Is it expensive to own a Defender ?? Plan to buy a used AT Defender......
*
Why AT and not MT? LoL

For an auto, it's pretty hard to find/buy at the right amount..

As long as you maintain your truck engine and gear box...ect, servicing it on time, check that all your oil level are sufficient enough. It's a reasonable truck to own.

But for certain wear and tear, it might cost you quite a bit.

Overall, it's a wonderful machine to drive and to off road

generally, what is the maintainence expense like?
*
Well, a simple engine oil change with our filter and labour cost you less than rm200.

The other complete oil change are the killer. We are talking transmission gear oil, axle oils both front and back, transfer box oil.. That could set you back around rm500( depending on the brand of oil you choose)

Also regreasing your shaft, checking for oil leaks of your axles. That add up the cost.

But overall, it's still priced reasonably.

I do know now the agents do carry the 90 version. Heard the prices has dropped too.

You can now buy yourself the single can flat bed, double cab flatbed and the 110 Stationwagon. Heck , they even have the local army specs too for private usage.

Cool... how much approximately is the price for the 90?

That doesn't sounds quite right.
I mean, a 30 year old Defender 90 is being sold at RM50k to RM60K
One I found in Mudah.
Why is it being sold at such high price if a brand new one is around RM30k more?

My bad.. I have given you the wrong info . The newer defenders are now labelled "Puma" and uses ford engine . The one at mudah is what collectors/ avid diehard would describe it as a true LR Defender. A collectors car with all LR parts and LR engine plant. The 300TDI.

Try calling the shop and see how nego they can go. Go take a look at it first. Maybe the previous owner had already upgraded some parts hence the price.( I can't really see much from the picture in mudah)

To each it own bro. Some would say its reasonably priced. Some would say otherwise.

Good luck with your hunting bro.

I just bought the new puma 110 double cab. I have not start any modification yet. I really need an advice on where to start the modification that can prepare it for off-road and also for a comfortable long journey driving.

Anyone knows where can I get a Defender 90 wagon?

Would like to check if the current line of Defender engine are any problematic and is it easy to manage/maintain/fix by the any tom, d*** and harry mechanic? or do I have to seek specialist in Sime Darby?

The tire looks expensive, what are the regular price to replace each of them?

As the models are ending/ended their production, will there be difficulties in maintaining the car? I am looking into getting a pick up early next year and is considering Defender series among the other regular pickup trucks.

Dear all. My bad for not responding or keeping the treads alive as I am currently outstation. You can PM me for contacts as I have found a trustworthy workshop that does reasonable services. Also they do have some 2nd defenders on sale too.
For the rest , keep the questions coming and I would try my best to reply.
Merry Christmas to all

For the 90 series or other series, best bet is to get it straight from the workshop that specializes LR.

Although the defender is hardy and easy to maintain. ( for basic engine oil change any one can do it) the other area like transfer box. Ect...ect.. It's best to send it to a specialist as they have the correct tools needed. There are quite a few well known LR workshops located in KL.

As for tires, depended on the brand or sizes , one tyre could set you back rm500 to rm900 a piece .
PM me for the contact if you are still keen. These people are pretty friendly and you should pop down and look at their workshop but be warned . It's doesn't look like your regular workshop ... Don't worry though , the whole place is teeming with defenders . Lol
