in that case.. sgt obvious.. at this price range, you'd wanna be friendly with "made in china" dude..
unless some long lost rich unker of yours pass down a macap m4 or a ridiculously huge caimano to you.. what are your odds?  sweat.gif

Yeah what are the odds. I will be hopeful then. I think I might settle with what I have first until I found one. Thanks tho.

Anyone here uses Hario Skerton hand grinder? Was wondering if it's ok if I wash it every use. Wash as in dismantle the burr grinder and brush it every time I use it biggrin.gif

It's ok but a lot of work todo it every time after you grind
*
Yeah thats the problem if I dismantle and wash then I myself can't get back to the same settings of grind size every time. biggrin.gif

Save more money n buy an electric grinder. I had used other brand hand grinder for about 1 month then gave up. Hand sore to make more than 1 cup per day. Mine hand grinder the step is quite big for fineness.
*
Well for now I only have a hand grinder. Will definitely get an electric grinder in the near future. Most of the time I only grind for my cold brew and french press. It is indeed quite tiring if it is manual. tongue.gif

Once you get your electric grinder, you'll want to get a time machine and go back to the past and punch yourself repeatedly at the face.

I hope not biggrin.gif

Will be in Melbourne on June. Will scout around the area for local roasters and buy some of their beans smile.gif

Will get this antipodean this weekend & try. Prefer strong nutty dark cocoa profile. Should i get its espresso blend dark roast? By refer to its website
*
you should definitely get some beans from Cafe Crema. Theyre espresso blends are very nutty and dark coco after taste. Awesome

Do you get to choose the beans that you'll be getting? I'm currently subscribing to blaq coffee and the only downside is I can't choose what I'll be getting. And yours looks slightly cheaper.  hmm.gif
*
Well I would prefer the surprise factor of not knowing what beans you'll be getting. This in Melbourne is working wonders. They love the surprise by letting the roasters picking what kind of blends they think the best for the week.

Dear All,

Anyone here use manual drip technique to brew coffee? I wanna ask, does anyone tried between paper filter and stainless steel filter? My concern that stainless steel filter may not offer fine filtering cause coffee residue leak thru. on the other hand, i would prefer to go green, reduce using paper.

Anyone can enlighten me on this?
*
I think the review on Kone coffee filter seems to be good enough. Was at Melbourne but I did not get one which I should. It's not that cheap tho but in the long run you can go green. Reduce paper usage. Of course the residue may leak through the Kone but it wont leave any papery taste to your coffee whilst paper filter will practically have a cleaner but some of the flavors may be absorbed by the paper itself. There's pros and cons. Why not try both and see which one u like better.

Chemex papers removes a lot of oils, papery taste can be remove with rinsing it once with hot water.

Thinner paper works differently

Yes I agree there are pros and cons, let ones tongue decide
What is manual drip? I use pour over (Chemex)

I'm using the v60 and paper filters from daiso. Not that bad but the extraction takes too long probably the paper is slightly too thick. Got the hario buono kettle for usd30+ from eBay with free postage lol.

Note that this is not the Akira grinder. Not sure what brand is this. It's cheaper than Akira though.

seriously thou... of all the cheap non-blade grinders in taobao.. this is one you should've avoided like a plague..
they're definitely better than the blades.. there're better burr grinders at taobao without burning a hole in your pocket..  sweat.gif

Really? Well its alright la. Since I have already got it. Will give it a try. biggrin.gif

but you definitely got a better buy as compared to getting this same siizzt in m'sia.. spotted some sellers selling this similar-caliber grinder at both m'sia barista championship 2015 and cafe m'sia 2015.. can you imagine they're offering this same siizzt for approx RM500?!?!?  sweat.gif

these are example of how local sellers gave a bad impression of china products..
it's predatory selling and really pity and empathize those noob buyers who hardly do any reading/research/homework..
if it's not for it's predatory pricing, it does have it's fair value if one were to buy it directly from taobao themselves..

RM699 for a non-akira, loud as fuark, inconsistent and static crazy grinder..?

here a real bummer.. RM2,599 for a ~2-bar steam espresso machine?!?!

dude must be proud of a once-owned eupa madness for RM2,499.. imagine he can trade-in for an oscar and hardly need to do a contra?

so please be careful at purchasing stuff on something as niche as specialty coffee gears.. these pics were taken from a online selling portal in m'sia.. they're not the exception ba

Wow thats the one I got for less than half the price. Anyways I am not using it for espresso machine its for drips, cold brew and aeropress biggrin.gif
