Antenna is for tv watching in Korea which is not applicable for us in Malaysia...
When I first holding the phone, The first impression that comes to my mind is although it is 5.3 inches, but I don't feel like it is too giant size like GNote. Gnote is too big for me, feel quite hard to hold it with single hand. But R3's size is just fit my palm. Look at the front part of phone, Pantch now put "Vega" logo at the phone instead of "Sky" logo. And it looks quite sexy with the tall screen. the phone cover is made up of material alike with SGS2, which is very comfortable to hold with. 1)The Natural IPS Pro LCD screen is very comfortable to my eye. The color is very natural, u still can view the phone comfortably under different light conditions. The color won't too saturated compare to the AMOLED screen. Even in low light conditions u can still view the phone with ease. It is a kind of color that won't make ur eye fatigue easily. 2)The UI is very smooth, the phone just smooth like water even I keep switching from 1 page to another or open many apps in once. Thanks to the Snapdragon S4 Pro and also 2GB RAM.
3)There are some quick function at the locked screen such as unlock, call, music, sms, and others. All u need to do is just draw the screen with respective pattern. Then the phone will automatically go to the menu u desired. It is a very convenient features as we don't need to key lock and find the apps step by step. [attachmentid=3151923]
4)Simple mode is a feature that already existed in Sky Vega Racer 2 a.k.a. Sky A830. When u enter simple mode, the UI will turn into like window 8 UI. It is a very interesting features which enable an Android starter to get adapt with the phone. Everything is simplified in this mode. Or if u afraid of ur friends or family who is not familiar with Android will mess up ur phone, u can switch ur R3 to Simple mode before u borrow to them. 5)Speaker of this phone is good, gives sweet and clear sound quality when I play songs. The sounds won't go broken even I adjust it to the loudest. Personally I feel it is better than my Sony NWZ-B162F MP3 even I plug the handsfree to my ear. If I play some classic songs like <Always on my mind> I can feel the echoes or 3D effect.
6)The camera comes with 13MP. Once u open it, it will auto focus for u immediately. The quality of the photo is so far so good. There are some new features such as best face and instant film mode. U can pick a few features u wan to be appeared in the photo to the empty box. So that u take a shot with few features at the same time. Here are some samples. Got chances I will shoot outside. 7)In this R3 phone, there is no more keypad on the phone anymore. both home, more, and go back button are all become the part of the display. However, u still have some physical button at the side, which are volum + - button on the left hand side of the phone and power on/off button at the right side of the phone. 8)Another features that Sky phone own since Sky Vega Racer 2 - Motion Recognition. Not sure if u guys go realize this or not, it is a very unique features from sky phone. U can use motion recognition in picture gallery, music or even accept call. what u need to do is just wave ur hand to leftwards or rightwards when u do it. Then the pic/music file wil move to next left/right one depend on which direction u wave to. This feature is quite useful if ur hand is with something that not suitable to touch or dirty ur phone. 9)Face Unlock, very special unlock style =D u just have to put ur face to the phone when u wanna unlock. No need setup many gesture pattern that u might forget next time when u unlock the phone. Of course, the face unlock can't be done under low light condition. [attachmentid=3151941]
10)Mini window is something like u can open another smaller box on ur phone screen. It can be music, video, notepad, dictionary, sketch pad and T-DMB (only can be used in korea). Hence, u can multi tasking. U can reply a sms even u r watching an exciting movie on ur phone. With mini-window, u no need to exit to the main screen to do another task if u r enjoying ur movie. How is the cell reception for this phone?? Cause i'm using Samsung S2 Skyrocket and the reception sucks big time.. Always cant send out SMS... It is really frustrating..

Oh.. i thought that [secret view] is exclusive of S5,but after reading threads of other SKY phones here,even the VR2 has it..hoping the next update will bring it to R3
EDIT : so much many pros on this phone, but i have to point out a few cons here...
1. gesture lock screen - cant change the prefix gesture, wanted to change the S-sign(for smart voice,cannot use here in malaysia) to Camera, would be awesome.
2. camera setting - the 13MP resolution did not have wide-reso like the 6MP reso, so when taking picture;all screen will filled with the image, no black border on top/bottom. i will always use the "w6M(3200x1920)" instead of "13M(1920x3104)".
3. mobile network setting - cannot change preferred band(did not find any option to do this). so the phone will automatically select the best network. it shows " [W] Celcom " rather than " [G] Celcom " in the notification area.this end up eating too much battery (as my picture before this). W=WCDMA and G=GSM, if im not mistaken?
4. SMS 80-byte limit - (if root,can remove the limit,they say...) larger than that converted to MMS, which i still cannot make it work
thats all i could found until my 4th day of usage...
p/s: this is my 1st time using android(last time using Torch9800). not root, no fancy apps to manage things-or-whatnot, just purely using what is there and update all SW given..hoping the next update,or even JB, will bring more awesomeness to the stock ROM.

Use the app provided to upgrade S/W ; VEGA Station
For the contact, not sure can really see the number on the sim; bcos have to create own ME profile,even when no sim inserted. So i assume it(set number on sim) just for sms purpose.

I have success fully root VEGA R3 IM-A850K using RootA850.zip. After install VEGA R3 IM-A850K usb driver. Just extract RootA850 & run RootA850 batch file. Than press Y than press enter, forget about the unknown character wait until program show press any key & program automatically close. All process only take 1 minute.

Hi Humanoid03 did u install vega usb driver. Please show me your pc device manager. I did this 2 time already. Every time after firmware self update u need to root again. Attach 2 picture 1 before install driver second after install vega usb driver.

Because the R3 you get is Custom ROM, I also get my R3 from DynamicG yesterday. The apps you mention I also cannot open. My one is A850L. Just now i update official SW 1.47 then all the apps you mention got it back and functioning well.

do u go to "Settings \ System \ Developer options \ USB debugging" and ticked it? after download put into ur "temp" folder(u can press [Win+R], then fill in "%temp%" and press enter) the most important thing is, u must enable all ur activeX option in ur internet explorer to let it run ActiveX plug in.

i did all the things said in the forum, still cannot get the sketch pad,dictionary and text action apps.

anyone know how to change the phone number format? if imported from sim will be +0601xxxxxxxx , but new contacts are 01x-xxx-xxxx , sms will be recognized by the 1st format, so it will display the sender by number, not contact names.
The phone doesn't seem to recognize same number with different formats, instead it recognize 2 formats as 2 different numbers.

i havent update my A850K to 158,but my phone idle mode can last for 2 day.. A850K has the most frequently sw updated.

guys, i tried updating via the self upgrade service , and i been stuck in the page below for hours, any suggestions on what it is? is it stuck while downloading update? or my phone is already up-to-date, so no updates needed.

i'm kinda new to android, but does your phone software is non-official custom ones? something called ROM or firmware.... maybe those will affect what's displayed.

the 3G symbol will appear whenever there is data transfer, whether its GPRS/EDGE/3G because i tried using celcom GPRS apn, the 3G icon lights up too

regarding the LTE, i don't think our phone will be able to utilize it here since malaysian LTE band will be 2600? our versions of phones are between 800 or 1800. i could be wrong here though

R3 is much better in terms of specs. But I don't like the design because the bottom bezel is too thick that made this big device even bigger. Pantech could just have transferred the capacitive keys there to utilize the blank space. Another thing, R3 is thicker than s5. I thought bigger phones can be made thinner because the components inside can be spread.

1. Its not bigger,its longer 2. I like to see Samsung user tapping the white bezel for 'back' on my R3 (^0^)~♪ 3. Its thicker so IF u put in ur back pocket and sit down,it will not easily bend , LOL

Hey there, sad to hear about that. The charger head for this phone is a simple USB charger actually, you can go to most computer shops like Challenger and look for those adaptor heads with a USB port or two. Should cost you around RM20.. You can still use the charger cable supplied.
Alternatively chargers from some Nokias or Blackberrys will probably work as well.. the head is quite standard..

Just go a buy a 3 pin plug usb charger, RM15 only here, comes with a detachable usb cable. Don't buy those with many many adapters, plugging in and out damages the connection.

so, anybody solved the 80-byte SMS limit issue? seem this is the 1 with highest priority to be fix
partially read some vietnamese websites that it involve the framework.jar file in the system. it seems like they are able to rectify the problem on older models. Anyone knows how to edit framework.jar and see if there is anything to change there?
Anybody coming from Vega s5? I want your opinion if there's improvement in camera picture quality considering that both S5 and R3 have 13 megapixels. Maybe they have the same sensors.
Secondly, is the front facing cam still as slow as 5 frames/second?

2) it is the phone system that it is limited to 80 character message, changing to external sms program won't work. i think the only way is to edit 1 of the system file to remove the limitation, but i don't know how to do it.

1. the sms limit is a known problem with korean phones. For R3, using external sms program won't solve it, it is something to do with the phone's system. Currently, it seems there's no solution to this problem on R3
2. i think it should be fine to remove those korean programs.

You don't get your phone rooted when buy from your friend ?? Thats weird .. I recently bought one unit sky vega s5 and it's pre-rooted ...
If you want to uninstall the korean Apps you can download "Titanium Backup" from Play store ... You can uninstall any programs/apps from your phone using "titanium backup"
and if you want the latest awesome custom ROM you can see this :
- I tried to root by guide on post #76, but in the final, it is asking about data restore and encryption password. I dont know any encryption password.... May be this phone hasnt encryption password.

Imagine vega R3 with Jellybean bro ... The benchmark must be KICKASS since the ice cream sandiwish can get around 17k - 20k score in AnTuTu Benchmark ...

I think u don't need to worry so much bro ... cuz when I tested benchmarking again I got lower than 20k .. Maybe I installed some apps that can change the "kernel" inside my phone ?

ya, i bought 2pcs R3, i am using 2 of A850K,using lastest SW 158, if i am not mistaken, 143 is the lastest for L. i am backing up my rom, too many apps and source need to backup, i would try 1 more other modified 158 rom from "hck凯皇" too. i wish to solve the sms character and invalid code problem.

80byte is a problem for us, not for teh korean...they should differentiate which input using how many byte, not just implement general limit of 80byte to all text input...

i can take out the vega station for u, but i dont know is it the same for A850L or not.. u wanna try? or u go and download the CWM rom for A850L and take the Vega Station out.

alright problem solved ! Just found the tutorial how to convert the BINX file to flashable ZIP ... just ignore the step to ZIP ... after extract the BINX file just take the recovery.img then use fastboot to flash it

Managed to upgrade to 147 but im stuck at the android laying during recovery, nothing seems to happened? i removed the battery several times already. where did i go wrong??

dont know, already downloaded, but i think i will flash it after CNY... coz the rom hasnt stable, heard the creator said root problem, earphone problem, etc...
i am using AOKP, i am sure there has APN for Setting, look carefully,last step to create APN, u need to press the "menu" button at the right bottom corner side.

i tot the actual 1 is 5V/2A..so any 1A charger can fit, like BELKIN Car Micro Charger, but take too long to fully charge. good if stuck in traffic jam for 4hr++

5V/2A if you put 2 USB and connect to 1 phone ... 1 USB slot output just 5V/1A

so that make my assumptions that it not really 1A split into 2 port, only when u use both USB will make the charging slow.

If u noticed .. the output rating for the case is lower than the charger if self thats why the phone charge much more faster ...
I used samsung charger (note I) with rating 5V/1A. No delaying like you said ... only took about 2 hours same to vega chrager ...
The charger actually 2A split two so each USB slot have 5V/1A only.

Yep the charger cant claim the warranty ... I just brought a 4.2A dual USB ... very fast charging experience ever! (^0^)~♪

just wandering anyone got problem after update to jelly bean ? mine got problem after reboot keep hang and cannot go into app, and have to do factory reset. After reset the weather is not functioning. the cant sync time with operator is fix and the contact is fix can add event date.

so far it seems smooth , though certain programs seem to have some slow startup time ( or maybe it is just my imagination )
so far, 1 day after JB update, no auto-restart problem encountered.
the 3G icon is different in JB compared to ICS , any other graphical differences you guys noticed?

I feel even faster (just a little) during running apps.. so far no reboot issue on my phone.
But... I noticed the camera or maybe the galery sucks ... You can't zoom clearly your captured picture .. if previous ICS u can zoom in/out your picture sharp ... damn~

yeah 3g works, i can surf the net using data but duno y cant mms >< thanks for the roaming tips

some observation.regarding the 3g icon. green 3G icon can mean 3G or HSPA+ , while yellow 3g icon seem to be 3G only(not really sure about this as it switches back to green icon in a second or so).
