Bro I've just started not too far ago, around a month. I'm a skinny fat person. Weak and no much mass. I'm in a proper program now, hoping to get stronger and with some mass(though already notice some newbie gain).

I'd like to ask you more experienced guys something.

How much difference would you normally expect between a bench using free weights (barbell) and the machine where you sit there and push the handles forward? For instance you can bench 80 kg on the machine but only 60 kg on the barbell? I think free weights would normally be more difficult as you have to stabilize it right.

don't compare the poundages. treat each progress separately.

Gosh I hate this question "How much you can lift?"

Why nobody asks "Do you even lift properly?"

I better lift lighter weights with controlled and strict form rather than heavy weights and messed up form. If your 7th or 8th rep is hard for you that means your weight is heavier. Make sure every rep counts and it must be in a strict form. Your last rep should look like your 1st rep. Don't mess up in lifting weights guys. Injuries might occur. So always safety first.

That's kinda understood. The topic is what is your 1RM max. Not how properly do you lift. Thanks for the lecture.

Practice makes perfect! I barely bench 40-45kg previously. But benching around 75kg now after half year. Still low but at least there is some progress. Following some strength based routine at the moment. Aim to bench 100kg in future lol.

I know but as darklight said, i really agree. I'm focusing on the good reps and having good workout instead of achieving those PR. Feels kind of awkward tho maybe i have long arms. Lol that's just excuse but yeah. Stick for what best for you. Wait i wrote wrong there i mean 60kg's
