hi, newbie here in custom rom world, thinking of trying wanamlite custom rom in my s3, so before i makes any mistake, here i list down step by step in what i have read and understand from this forum and xda developer :
my phone condition : currently flash to samsung stock rom jelly bean xxdli8

1.goto here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238) download cf-root 6.4 & odin3-v1.85
2.unzip both files
3.start odin3
4click pda button, select cf-root-sgs3-vX.X.tar
5.put phone in download mode (vloumn down+home+power).
6.collect phone to pc
7.have to make sure repartition is not checked
8.click start
9.wait for phone to reboot
10.done and consider root successfully
11.so after above settle and phone can switch on, i need download wanamlite latest rom here (http://wanamlite.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=6868)
12.install cwm recovery (should already have when root just now?)
13.wipe data / factory reset ? do i need to do other wipe like ‘wipe cache’ / ‘wipe dalvik cache’, is it necessary ?
14.flash the wanamlite rom
15.reboot.
any step i miss out and wrong ?

not insulting you or anything, but out of curiosity what hp phone was that 

personally if it was me i'd probably do the same. i'd have a place holder android 2012 phone (free) until 2013 or 2014 for the next phone which would last a good 5 years better compared to 2012 as good as it is :}
