Oh.. good to know that. tongue.gif Cos I read in many ang moh sites that its a newbie mistake to use tap water. Must use RO water and all that. But I keep my mantis shrimp few months seems quite ok. Molted once around CNY.

Another question, you know where to buy mantis shrimp? I bought mine from the Pet safari in Ikano, and I've never seen another one anywhere since then. I don't want those small ones that come as pest, I want big ones like mine. laugh.gif

Marine/Reef tank can use tap water? I read at some site say cannot and not good. But I use it for my marine tanks.. no problem so far. And any other water source is expensive for me, cannot afford. unsure.gif

depends on where you read the site from. cos different country, different location - tap water condition will be different.

pump 20
salt 20 - 40
sand 20 - 40
live rocks - ??
fish - ??
lights - 40
hydrometer - 40
test kits - 40

so yeah, i think that's it. did i miss out something? i hope not.

Hydrometer need 40 meh ?? Get those plastic swing-arm type RM20+ enough loooo....

Test Kits 40 ?? Maybe more than that lah ... NO2 one about RM20, NO3 one about RM35, KH, PH about RM15 each ...

Can use our tap water, but the silicate deposits from our tap water will introduce ugly diatom (brown) algaes. Recommended to use mix salt-water for at least 1 day before introducing it into the tank.

Salt-water aquarium is easier to keep (provided u have appropriate equipments) compared to fresh water IMHO.

btw goldfries, myfish.info forum is very dead lah ... those who wanna find out more about reef tank and marine fishes pls visit http://www.myfish.info

Me only FOWLR keeper, swingarm hydrometer would be enough.

Yalor, NO2 testkit only required during setup, after that no need to use liao. PH testkit also waste money, good salt-mix PH sure around 8.0~8.5 one.

itu myfish forum mati for almost 6 months lah ... zzz

Now I got 3ft FOWLR and a new 1ft baru setup one cycling with damsels kekeke
