Yes it is, scope down to a pen size rod. comes with a small reel.
1-3kg???? that 2-6lbs,.. can no prob,.. i was there with a 6-12lbs Nemesis II on a 6lb line.
Only problem is,.. when you strike a big pacu,.. it will out smart you and swim into the snags. Your rod wont be able to stop it. HEHEHEHE
let it stay there for a while and hope it swims back out. Else just cut the line.
Pacu are powerful short burst swimmers.
*
Yeah bout 2-6lb. Feels under-gunned haha
Yeah caught a few biggish Pacu at Tow Foo although with a heavier rod and heavier line.
Should be fun...... blush.gif

Zero...0....nothing lol

At least Viox caught a Tarpon. Conditions was not ideal and overall EAK was pretty quiet today. Before I left Nik said he was going to chum the water with crickets. Kumanosuke stayed on. Hope it improved and he got on to something.

Saw the Flutterstick that Viox talks about. Man looks decent. Think it'll be fun at Uncle Benny's place with that... smile.gif

After u guys left, someone managed to hooked up a tarpon using cricket as bait. It eyes are humongous.

Unfortunately, Pacu don't give a damn of my Berkley Grub.

Not a bad outing lah, at least we got to chase Toman Fries . biggrin.gif

The boat we used today can be fitted with an electric propeller, maybe nxt time we fit it in and use it to chase fries

when is Benny's trip ? i m anxious  ady
*
The fly fisher?

your using the grup as bottom fishing or casting ????

i just brought a pack today white color , haven use softbait before dont have any idea how to use it ....
*
as with most plactics slow retrieve works best.
paddle tails, minnows and worms you can flick or raise the rod then retrieve let it sink and stop. repeat.
have fun

QUOTE(kumanosuke @ Oct 14 2012, 08:10 PM)
FishOn, what soft plastic is good for bream and snapper fishing ?

I m going Melb in a few days time, mostly going to do some shore fishing.
*
Did you say Bream??? lol I know a thing or two about bream.
Where bouts in Melb? Moving towards summer....you get the bigger ones in winter. but they're more active in summer. They'll even take poppers hehe

As for plastics go there and have a look at the fishing shops man. Central Melb CBD has a fair few of em. Malaysia's range is quite pathetic compared to what they have. Get little crawdads or prawns. They work well. Got one's that look like bugs too and they work as well. Easier to cast too if it's windy. Worms are good. You can get 4" and trim it to suit your jighead. How you work them is important. With the shrimps etc you twitch a few times and let it sink. Then stop. Stop! lol if you see your line move or dart left to right means a bream has got it. Tarik and set the hook. smile.gif With worms. Cast let it sink. Lift your rod and wiggle it. Let it sink....and STOP. haha. Watch your line as well. Chances are you'll hook onto a few Tailor as well as the water will still be coldish. Watch the teeth and they will decimate your grubs. wink.gif

Snapper.....nothing beats bait for snapper. You can use worms but it'll be picked off too fast. To fish snapper effectively a boat would be ideal. Heavy jigheads too to get lower on the water column. But like I said. Bait works better. And if you're going for good sized Snapper it'll be probably rocks/ledge fishing outside of the bay. Take caution before you go (highly advisable) you don't go as it's the most dangerous form of fishing. Fair few deaths every year. I've almost been swept in once. Within less then a second I had sea water as high as my chest. Lucky I had cleats and jammed my rod in a rock crevice. sweat.gif Be very careful and never turn your back to the sea.

Get some grubs have fun with the bream if they on the chew. If not St Kilda Wharf I believe is a decent spot to fish. If all else fails. Go Trout fishing smile.gif I think the season is about to close if not already. Best check first.

Bream, Whiting and Flathead will be your bread and butter in Melbourne unless you head to deeper water or out of the heads. Flathead is good eating. Just be careful of the spikes on the side of the head. Very painful.
Anything weird, too colorful or spiky. Cut your hook off and release it. Aust has 8th of the 10 world's most dangerous creatures. Blue ring octopus is one of them.

I"m not sure about Victoria but I think it has been implemented. You WILL need a fishing licence. You can get day passes from their website. http://www.dpi.vic.gov.au/fisheries/recrea...fishing-licence
Also please please please do take into consideration bag limit's and legal size. Yes there is legal size (minimum size) in Oz. Any undersize fish is $2000 per fish. So bear this in mind. And it is strictly enforced.

All else fails....go on a charter man! haha I did when I was there. Great fun. Salmon after salmon after salmon. (winter) smile.gif Enjoy your holidays buddy

Biggest bout 30+ cm, my brother in law caught a dominant male with the bonjol on the head. very nice colouration.
Hooked up at the club lake near the swimming pool on foot. Plenty fishes lurking there as long as the monitor lizards and otters ore not out hunting.
The rain also played a role making the fishes hungry. THose PBs were hitting my weight sinker more than the feather lure i was using, but nevertheless, after adding on some blings onto my fly, the hook up was much better.

Yeah i got one with a bump too. Didn't realise thats the male.
Didn't use poppers? I'm a big fan of poppers and visual fishing. And these PB's hit it with gusto man.

planning to go one of these weekends, but with the rains coming, might have to delay, maybe we can plan a trip there once the rain starts to show some mercy, eh? tongue.gif

Yeah I'd be keen man. As I was trying to organise but finding info on the net about how too is like drawing water from stone.
