I tot altec lansing quality not as good as before, my housemate own an altec lansing (signature model, dotn know what model) spoilt less than a year, luckily got a replacement smile.gif and the bass too boomy, not good for music, the charity not as good as edifier / sp2500.

Sifus, please recommend me a 2.1 system based on your tastes:
Budget: ard RM800
For: Movies/ Music (usually classical)
Room size : small, around 3.2 x 3.5 meters
Audio source- no sound card, HDTV output

Or should I go with hifi stereo instead?

Never try jbl creature iii, but edifier sure wont disappoint u. Personally, i like harman unique design, small but powerful!

Yes, better go for 2.1 for laptop. 5.1 look too messy.

which of these three have better bass, mid and treble? m10, c3 or s330?

C3 has the biggest sound IMO, followed by s330 and lastly M10.. but C3 need proper dac or sound card to perform at its best..

But, for the price u will never go wrong with M10 .. Plus, for some people M10 is has comparable sound quality with M50W but with a light bass.. ( the subwoofer is actually a mid woofer )

I vote for M10 for overall balanced sound.. thumbup.gif

For me , adding a decent sound card or dac should be your top priority after getting new speakers set .. biggrin.gif

Changing cable do make the sound quality better, but not night and days difference.. For some, they might not hear any differences at all unless you are being critical..

with that price I'd usually recommend computer speakers as home theater setup

Edifier R2800 is a great HT for it

or if you know how to setup a proper 5.1 surround, then Edifier DA5100 works too

Hi guys, looking for something below RM 500.
Mostly for movies and gaming. Not much room space and desk space, so preferably a sub woofer on the floor and 2 speakers on the desk.

Any recommendations or is the list on the first page still good?

Can the R2800 work without an av receiver? And i notice there's no woofer?
*
it has a built in amp so just plug your audio out from your tv or your cd player and you can start listening to it already

there are woofers in the R2800... the large speakers on the low side? those are woofers~
plus they are large enough for some serious bass

if you meant subwoofer then no... these don't need as they are huge enough unless you'd really prefer a subwoofer then you can buy one separate from a Hi-Fi store

I wanted to recommend you the Edifier S530D that comes with a subwoofer but from my experience the vocals sounded a little tiny from that small satellites as compared to the R2800 if you're gonna use it for long distance listening

either this R2800...or..well.....dont have much choice since i like JBL, but i know nothing about which model being better for 1.2k range.. thanks again!

If you prefer something stylish, you can give e30 a try.

Wowww...e30 looks wicked.. hahaa...

is the sound any better than R2800? if yes then i might consider..assuming it doesnt go over Rm2k coz my tv corner's theme gonna modern-style...no victorian lamp or balinese coffee table..
*
the E30 surely suits long distance listening as it was designed for that anyway~

but of course size matters~

The E30 got my pick if deep bass wasn't needed thumbup.gif
