Off the top of my head,... Fortuna REITs.

There was a Shipping TRust earlier called Paciific Shipping Trust, but it was not doing well when the subprime crisis came and the shipping industry was hit very badly. I can't see it on the SGX now, perhaps it has changed name. PST was denominated in the USD.

One of the advantages of having First REIT is a big proportion of the rental is denominated in the SGD, though the properties are based in Indonesia. Hence, the unitholder is fairly protected from currency(exchange) risks.

Good alert there, Gark,.. Now I can see that the intervention actions of the HK Monetary Authority (HKMA) made recently has borne fruits. It was reported that spent quite some amount to defend their peg with the USD. The net result becomes the HKD strengthens against many currencies worldwide in tandem with the USD.

fret is my champion.

.. despite price drop recently, still have decent cap gain
.. stable yield 6.5%
.. drip always 4-5 cents below market price

can't say the same for the rest.

How would you rate ParkwayLife REIT then? Same family, almost same type of business but differs only in geo locations where the assets are located in. ParkwayLife REIT's assets are mostly in Japan, with some in KL and Sgp. We know the asset locations for FREIT.

I have not diversified my Sgp REIT holdings into different currency holdings yet. If this is a good mode for diversification, then it is worth doing. Looking at the consistent strength of the SGD, it is wise to select REITs with denominated currencies that will perform better than the SGD.

i hv not looked at this one closely but i would think ok too.

like i said, i keep just a few, easier to monitor:

.. fret (heathcare/hospitals)
.. aims (industrial)
.. soilbuildbiz (industrial)
.. starhill (retail, office)
.. capitamall (retail)
.. suntec (retail)

like capitamall and suntec not for their yields but liquidity and relative volatility - can trade once or twice a year. tongue.gif

I believed you will like ParkwayLife REIT too then.

There is more supply of warehouse spaces coming in next year and the next (2016). Recently, one authority in Sgp has imposed that the sponsor needs to occupy a certain percentage of the net lettable area(NLA) under the REIT manager. What did the most recent reports from AIMSAMP and SoilBizBuild say about these two events ?

A lot of value buy now. What are you guys waiting for ? tongue.gif

Good morning.

Yes, agreed,... a lot of value buys now. Don't look at REITs only,... remember to diversify. Look at dividend stocks also. But don't look at yield only. Look at the DPU sustainability, investigate the company background closely.

Decided to change tactic a bit - change MYR into USD FIRST, then when ready to fire ammo in a month or two , change over to the SGD. Will get more bank when changing over from USD to SGD later. When ready to load-up, then only convert over the USD to SGD.

Yes, if you have USD accessivle, convert over this USD into the SGD, and buy with the converted USD. More bangs for your money.

Sgp will very likely fall into a technical recession next month. Save some bullets for next month. Wait for the MAS' Monetary Policy Statement and Macro Economic Review next month.

Can probably get even better bargains then. Steady, patience, steady,...

Yes,... but please do not focus on REITs only. Do have a peek on strong dividend counters too. As you have mentioned earlier, Starhub is one of them, though there is an entry of a fourth Telco player soon.

This is the time to diversify our Sgp holdings out into different sectors for more resilience.

been reading and hearing lots of expert's recommendation for the logistics trust since late last year.

but the prices for both mapletree logistic and cache logistic been going down and down every time i check them out.  rclxub.gif

The common saying across the logistics universe now is there is ample warehouse floor area supply coming in next year. That's the reason why the institutions are so wary about going into the industrial REITs. Check out the news.

Ya, got other good ones besides Reits. Fishing Valuetronics also. Good dividend, zero gearing, good past track records....But this bugger never budge <0.40 even market is bad now. Very stubborn  doh.gif

Hi bro,... I heard of Valuetronics and took a quick look at it. My negative opiions :-

1) They pay out dividend once a year - a bit too slow for my liking before the money comes to me.
2) Their divvy is paid out in the HKD - currency risk later on.
3) If you look at their DPU over the years, they go up and down and not very consistent. As of the latest period, they are running at a yield of 8.80%, that's good,.. but we have to think of the sustainability.
4)If I am not mistaken, Valuetronics is in the electronics manufacturing outsourced business, right ?

Just quick glances at their DPUs over the years, compare against currenct price and whatever I could recall that they do.

Hmm,... lacking of ideas now on where to put my funds to capture on the best ROI. Looking high and low, left and right, front and back,... decided finally to park them into the USD first while awaiting best opportunities, and before our authority decides to impose strict capital controls.

Tks,... I have been looking at iREIT Global too. Good exposure and diversification to the European sector. I wouldn't worry too much abt the emission software hoo-haa,.. it will blow over, just like thoese issues about airbags, brake prbs, etc,...

Only thing holding me back is if this REIT can survive over the current EU crisis that Europe is experiencing.

By the wau, forgot to comment on this earlier, I'm not sure if it I good to go into the shipping REITs now.. With the worldwide commodity rout now, how will this affect the shipping trusts ?

I remembered back in 2008/9. I was really keen to take-up stakes in Pacific Shipping TRust (PST) and there was another one, forgot the name,... both were shipping trusts. Their unit prices kept dipping and dipping together, with the DPUs. I don't think PST is around anymore today.

I made the right call.

What attracted me to Pacific Shipping TRust back then was that the trust was denominated in the USD. The USD was very weak then, hence was really interested to get into the USD. However, after much thinking, decided to pull back the bullets. Glad I made that call.

*Added : I remembered now - the other shipping trust I was targeting was Rickmers Shipping Trust.

Not the right time to buy yet, but please look at Keppel Corporation. At today's price, yield is at 7.23%. Gives out dividend twice a year, quite consistent DPU year-after-year.

Best of all is its big market capitalization. Can we find any company with such a mkt cap giving out such a yield ?

...well,.. I wouldn't want to rate my inputs as being valuable or otherwise, but if I think over my inputs before putting them up, then I am certainly happy if they're helpful. After all, a thread in a forum is supposed to help people and to help each other.

To each of his/her own opinion.

I'll start the thread.

Our favourite counter about to report soon :-

Bowsprit Capital Corporation Limited, as manager of First Real Estate Investment Trust (“First REIT”, and as manager of First REIT, the “Manager”), will be announcing the unaudited financial results of First REIT for the third quarter ending 30 September 2015 on Tuesday, 13 October 2015, after close of trading.

Good luck to us !
