Hi Ramjade

Saw that you referred to Transferwise. Yes, I use that very frequently to transfer Pounds from the UK to Ringgit in Malaysia. Its exchange rates are better than Banks.

Also saw that people are interested in buying Australian or Singapore shares.

Actually, The Interactive Brokers (US firm) offers cheapest commissions in trading international shares. As far as Malaysians are concerned, they do accept our applications to open accounts. The minimum to get started is at least USD $ 10,000. However, this can be withdrawn back after account is opened. The account charges minimum of US 10 per month - and this is offset by any commissions you incur when trading in that particular month. It offers one free transfer to any bank account in the world, including third party's, per month. After the first free transfer, subsequent transfers are chargeable according to which currency is being transferred out.

Singapore shares
Singapore
Tier Fixed Minimum Per Order
All 0.08% of trade value SGD 2.50
USD 2.00
HKD 18.00

Australia
Australia
Tier Fixed Minimum Per Order
All 0.08% of trade value AUD 6.00

Can consider Interactive Brokers. It is regulated in the USA. In the UK, it is regulated by the FCA.

https://www.interactivebrokers.co.uk/en/ind...=1590&p=stocks1
*
I will never considered interactive brokers.
Reason: their inactivity fees.

Interactive broker is only good for those who trade frequently. I don't trade frequently. I am a holder (buy and hold). Going with IB I will be slapped with monthly inactivity fees and that will affect my returns over the long term.

many here sold also coz the div is around 5% region only...

and now its finally above my entry price!!!

@PrinceMK macam mana?

upcoming earnings 21 jul...

maybe good result?

Asians are not like Americans where they do online shopping only. Heck, if Capital China can survive in China (land of eCommerce), malls are not dead. Price goes up because ex date coming. Just look at midvalley. Very good eg. Weekend pack, release of blockbuster, people go to GSC and watch until line up don't know how long.

Just look at recent SG craze. Line up before store open at ION Orchard just to get entry ticket for special edition Louis Vuitton stuff.

Keppel and Soibuild has been dropping quite abit in recent days, any particular reasons?
*
For Keppel
https://www.theedgesingapore.com/keppel-rei...ls-12-142-cents
Well I can only guess:
1) fund manager does not have shareholder interest
2) keppel being keppel is not shareholder friendly (fill their own pocket first and then give you sisa)

Soilbuild my guess is O&G.

have to lor.. if not $$$ put where?

its still 6% above for some counters...

I started with AIMS at 1.50 in year 2013... added at low over the years.

Buy now still can get 2 more cycle of dividends... 2nd half year.
*
QUOTE(Vector88 @ Jul 20 2017, 07:53 AM)
yeah...actually for AIMS still can get 3 quarters of dividend, coz Q2 results not out yet...

Tried ro source for replacement of Croesus, but ended up mostly topping up AIMS.. not many counters with more than 7% dividend and with reasonable gearing and price/NAV..
*
Well I am sitting out. Ain't going to buy if it's expensive.

Thinking to sell CapitalMall after breakeven today. Sell or keep ??
*
Your choice. Funan mall is coming back online. My expected yield should increase to 6%+ so I am keeping.

Keep money for when amazon open shop. Sure retail reits will experience a sell down. That time, pick what you want to buy biggrin.gif

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jul 22 2017, 12:39 PM)
Although your yield is higher based on cheaper cost, we should always see the yield based on current market price.

Eg. reit DPU 8 cents, *assume DPU stays the same

Previous you bought at 0.80, your yield is 10%.
Current price 2.00, yield 4%.

For any decision making down the road, we should "see" the reit current yield is 4% to justify whether it is worth to hold on it or not, because by selling the reit you have 2.00, not 0.80 anymore.
Or in other word, the net worth of your holding is already 2.00, not 0.80, whereby you can utilise at anytime (by selling it) the 2.00 to generate more return.
*
So the latest dividend we received is it 4% or 10% of what we put in?

QUOTE(Hansel @ Jul 22 2017, 02:19 PM)
I would look at it this way :-

1) I would take it as 4% if I have targetted another 'better' counter to buy, hence to compare with...

2) If I don't have another better counter to buy, and and need to stick with this counter, then I will take it as 10%, ie based on what I put in earlier, ie my principal.

3) If I have further funds which are just sitting around waiting to be invested, then I will focus on those 'non-performing' funds, and think of what to do with those funds rather than thinking of divesting what I have currently - then, in this scenario, I will take it as 10% again.
*
Alright. I shall treat it as 10% then. No need to reduce so that help harder to find competition counters biggrin.gif

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jul 23 2017, 12:31 PM)
Since reit is a pseudo real estate investment.

Let take an example
You bought a house 100K last time, you rent out 10K pa.  10% yield

Now, the house value at 1 mil, the rental still 10K pa, but based on current market price, the yield is only 1%.

One should be happy until now as with the 10K received, the yield is 10% (very good yield already), so don't need to impose rental increment on tenant.

So should we see it is 10% or 1%?
It depends on one mindset.
If one still wants to see it as 10%, there is still nothing wrong but for current and forward looking, one should see the house currently has poor yield at 1%, aka the asset is not "productive" enough in investment world.
*
Make sense. Thanks.

FLT's proforma calculations for the 7 property acquisitions signals that they will have to do a combination of debt and equity-raising to achieve the desired good results for the acquisitions to give good dpus.

And a few weeks ago, FLT has done a Private Placement of 78,000,000 units.
*
I think it's the same property right? How come they doing EGM?

Anyway, can't do anything as the notice/letter just arrived today.

I do notice Ascott reit has gone up 5-6% within a week, especially before/after announcement of earnings, any thoughts? (though I can see that dpu wasn't that great due to circumstances)

On the other hand, does reit's price goes down after ex-div, in general?

notworthy.gif Any advise from sifus
*
Ascott reit DPU have been going down on yearly basis eventhough issue so many rights issue and acquire lots of property. I will run away. This is from ASSI sifu.
