My bad. If I can do that I wouldn't have said "maybe".  sweat.gif  Perhaps we'll have a solution soon.

How do you use your phone? Web browsing for a long time? Navigation? LTE network?  hmm.gif
*
I mostly use my Lumia for Facebook (since my office blocks the site), websurfing, taking photos, whatsapp, email (since my office blocks any cloud email services). I have not tried navigation and I'm not using LTE (mostly 3G).

My heavy usage would be surfing, changing the settings, listening to music, whatsapping, emailing (basically I consider it heavy if I don't switch off the phone for 20-30 minutes straight ans sometimes more).

While working, I would consider my usage as light usage because ... I have a day job. I use the phone to make calls, to reply to whatsapp, check my email but I usually will turn off the screen and sometimes won't touch the phone for long periods of time (once an hour maybe) so that's my usualy usage.

Yesterday the phone lasted till 10PM so that's 16 hours which is not bad. I was in a theater and was bored so with 25% battery remaining, I started surfing the net using my 3G connection. I suspect the phone would probably last the whole night if I let it sit on my bedside table after 9PM.

Ars technica also have some sort of 2012 Smartphone shoot-out. I dismissed it as it was too US centric and I immediately discarded the writers opinion when he says that the winner for the best camera was the iPhone 5. The writer is also so biased against Nokia (because of the weight) that his grading system was really funny. The Lumia came in 2nd in almost everything (Camera, Navigation, Productivity) BUT here's the kicker, the best Windows Phone is the HTC 8x (where did that come from?). Total rubbish article.

After reading all the reviews, i cant help to feel a bit disappointed with the inconsistent camera performance. As I am a person who use auto mostly, the 808 looks way way better in term of sharpness and detail... Perhaps is partly the WP8 imaging engine fault?
*
Pureview 808 is a different beast altogether and yes Lumia 920 uses the PureView branding (which I think is lame but I guess it's a marketing thing).

I do agree that the camera performance in daylight (outdoors) is average but personally for me I take a lot of photos indoors and I can tell you, it's light and day between my 4s and the Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5's camera is almost identitical to the 4s so I cannot see how you would rate the iPhone 5 as better. I would agree that it can be rated higher if the comparison is done for outdoor lighting but then again, if you are going to rank a winner based on outdoor lighting, then you have to create a category for indoor lighting and low light condition. We are not even talking of the OIS capability and its effect on Video recording so when Ars mentioned Winner in camera technology, I guess they are only talking about photos (which I already mention I have issues with) and not even video recording.

I was riding a bike with my 2 kids yesterday and took a video recording of them and the resulting video on the 920 was plain awesome. Later i did the same on my 4s .... it's good but nothing close to the 920. So personally I am happy with the camera capability of the 920. I hope Nokia will come up with a patch for the outdoor photo issue because the prototype 920 tested by Engadget had no issue with outdoor lighting.

If you ask any of the photgraphy nut, they will prefer the image taken by Lumia as it is not processed too much by the OS. It is more under-stated and more natural looking than the extra saturation that you see in the iOS.

I find the colors okay since I have a Nikon D300. I always find the vivid colors in the iPhone a bit unreal. It looks nice but not very "naturale" as I would put it.

I guess it's all in the perception. Millions of people who are used to the way images are displayed in iOS will be used to the vivid colors and will feel that the Nokia images are not so good.

My understanding is that based on MCMC regulation, all phones/smartphones sold in Malaysia must be sold factory unlocked.

The thing about exchangeable cover is that you'll start noticing the creaks and it won't feel as solid as the non-exchangeable cover phone. Took a photo os the Lego Star Wars that my son built in the living room today and I have to say the low light performance of the Lumia 920 is just incredible. It was without flash but with the Focus Assist on .... impressive result I must say.

I haven't switched on my iPhone 4s for 3 days already (only switched it on because the Lumia 920 died on me .... playing too much with it)

Based on WMPoweruser is saying, Nokia should be able to solve the supply problem by next week.

Based on some reports, Nokia has managed to sell 6.5 million units of the Lumia 920 since the launching it in early November. Even MacLife gives the 920 a 4.5 stars!

Go look at the unit, read the reviews and test the camera yourself la. Itu pun susah ka? Kalau suka beli. Kalau tak suka, tak payah beli? So hard ahh? So what if Nokia jual 1 million or 10 million? Who gives a shit. As long as you are happy with the phone that you bought with your own money, that's the most important.

Ahhh Ignorance is bliss .... thank god for the ignore list. Must give feedback that this "replies to me" is showing me replies from ignored user. Shouldn't be like that.

Anyway, back on topic. Does anyone know the prices for the Wireless Stand Charger? Thought of buying one for the office.

Hmmm 70 bucks, so that would be about RM210-220. I'm coming back to KL in early January. Let's hope some of the stores carry it.

The phone died on me today at 5PM. It seems to really suck battery really fast if you do some sort of trickle charge (a quick charge via USB connected to the computer or a quick 10 minute charge on the wireless plate). So now the phone is back on the wireless plate charging for the night.

The only thing that is running on the phone is the 3G and everything else is already disabled. NFC is off since there is no use for it at the moment. BT is off, Nokia Drive is blocked from running in the background and location is off. I was however receiving a lot of whatsapp notifications (which will bring the display on) all day today but I noticed that after a bit of trickle charge, the battery went up to 24 percent but within 1 hour, the phone just died on me meaning that it sucked a quarter of the battery in one hour.

There is the possibility that the battery information is incorrect and that it was not 25% actually remaining but maybe 10-12 percent.

so its means lumia 920 have battr issue?
hmm.. think to grab one..
but battery issue is serius issue.. can anyone who owned it share about their battery life?
*
Personally (this is my personal opinion, a caveat just in case some stupid ass someone wants to make a big deal out of it), I am used to the battery issue based on my usage. My 3Gs, my iPhone 4 and 4s all cannot last more than 15-16 hours and I don't expect the Lumia to do the same. I actually had to buy a Morphie Air Juice pack for the 4s because when I was continually using it for surfing with 3G on all the time, it can't even last me half a day. I have a MicroUSB cable in the office, a car charger in my car and the charger at home so I'm good but I will most likely buy a battery pack when I go back to KL as there will be time when I won't have access to all of the cables/chargers but those times are rare (maybe once a month).

I'll check the mkv and avi format video. I don't have video on my Lumia and I can probably test with an AVI file. I don;t have MKV files lying around except for one 10GB file which is probably not a good idea to try.

whatsapp does not have a dedicated WP8 version yet but you can install the one for 7.5 and it works just fine. It also has the bugs as reported by people who has been using it with WP7.5

Hmmmmmmm ..... had some issues with the Windows Phone app for the Mac. It was crashing everytime I opened it so found the solution to that (had to uninstalle, and then removed the com.microsoft folder in ~/Library/Containers ... Commad+Shift+G), that took a while to figure out. Disabled the auto-sync and apparently that should do the trick.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to Drag & Drop files from my Mac to the Lumia 920. After 30 minutes of searching for answers, finally found that you need to drag the files to the Phone Icon in the sidebar of the Windows Phone app ... BUT (there's a big but there), only files that the Windows Phone app recognize can be dragged. I was trying to drag files with the .avi extension, does not work. JPG and .mp4 works (and I found it the hard way .... berapa banyak .avi file I tried and nothing was happening .... after several curses, decided to try with JPG files and that seems to work .....)

Pening ...

I wonder if the Windows version has the drag and drop file extension issue too?  hmm.gif

I think kuroneko0509 can answer that for you. I remembered that I can see 5 folders when in windows explorer when I connect the Lumia to my office PC and I believe you can just drag and drop files into those folders. Can't install the windows phone app on the office pc because not allowed to
