Suppose you insert the ultrabay GT650M into laptop.
The Y500 will have 3 GPU, Intel HD 4000 (which is disabled by Lenovo), the onboard GT650M, and the ultrabay GT650M.
The onboard GT650M is always on, so you may say that is the primary GPU. The ultrabay GT650M will kick in when you play games that can utilise Nvidia SLI.

y580 with Intel HD 4000 sure will last longer on battery compared to y500 with GT650M, since Intel HD 4000 is disabled in y500

The 2nd GPU (in ultrabay) only kicks in when in game.

Ok, makes sense... I was just wondering if possible to switch either GPU as primary, seem like no for this case. Thanks...
