No swappable disc drive for Z400 Planning to get the i5 version with 1TB HDD and 120gb SSD You need to check with Z400 user or reseller whether HDD bay or ODD bay is sata3 port before you get the SSD. Generally, HDD bay is sata3 port and ODD bay is sata2 port. But pls check it out. Z400 don't have extra msata slot for msata SSD. Y400 has msata slot. QUOTE(Eclipse123 @ Apr 15 2013, 11:08 PM) HDD bay is hardisk slot and ODD bay is optical disk drive slot. Generally, HDD slot come with sata3 port which will speed up the SSD. ODD slot come with sata2 port which will slow down the SSD like HDD speed. You need to make sure Z400 come with sata3 port to enjoy the speed of SSD. |

Get a suitable slim caddy bay to place your HDD and swap it with ODD. Use the ODD as external drive. This is similar to how Y580/Y480 users installed their SSD. Is it possible to check from the lenovo website? If you want to retain your ODD in laptop, then use the HDD as external drive. This post has been edited by ytlay: Apr 16 2013, 12:00 AM |

Correct me if i'm wrong ![]() More info here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2363123 You need to get the same size caddy bay like your slim ODD from the reseller, so that it can fit nicely in the ODD slot. Its not so easily swappable like Y400/Y500. If you wish to upgrade the ram, ssd for Z400. Suggest you to get ready the ram, ssd and caddy bay, ask the reseller to do it for you when you buy Z400. It will save the trouble for you and you can learn how they do it. You need to make sure HDD slot is sata3 before you get the SSD. This post has been edited by ytlay: Apr 16 2013, 12:28 AM |
