If sata3 port is at HDD slot for Z400, you can swap your HDD with SSD. Get a suitable slim caddy bay to place your HDD and swap it with ODD. Use the ODD as external drive. This is similar to how Y580/Y480 users installed their SSD.

If you want to retain your ODD in laptop, then use the HDD as external drive.

You need to get the same size caddy bay like your slim ODD from the reseller, so that it can fit nicely in the ODD slot.
Its not so easily swappable like Y400/Y500.

If you wish to upgrade the ram, ssd for Z400. Suggest you to get ready the ram, ssd and caddy bay, ask the reseller to do it for you when you buy Z400. It will save the trouble for you and you can learn how they do it.

You need to make sure HDD slot is sata3 before you get the SSD.

US is much cheaper than MY . My guess is Y500/GT750m sli around RRP 3.8-3.9k.
Best is to wait for more reviews and user feedback on upcoming Y500/Y400.

Both sata3 msata SSD and normal SSD have the same speed with sata3 port.
msata SSD using msata slot and normal SSD using sata3 slot.

Thought 3GB/s sata2 will bottleneck the SSD performance.

IPs screen will have better viewing angle than most of the traditional laptops screen with TN panels. But its rare to see in the laptop space. Perhaps, the future Y series will come with full HD IPS screen also, who knows.

Local set Y500/GT650m sli is selling around RM34xx close to grey imported set at 3299 with higher US spec. It save the trouble for 1 to 1 exchange and major warranty claims issues.

Pls ensure you get the proper official receipt/Invoice from US Lenovo or their authorised resellers in US. Check out whether the US international warranty cover full refund or 1 to 1 replacement major warranty claims in MY, just in case you are unlucky to get the bad apple.

New model Y400 is coming very soon.
If you have urgent needs, booking earlier with resellers to avoid disappointment.
Get ready the $$$ and stay tune.

16GB is overkill for most users, unless you have the special needs.
Get 8 GB is more than enough, use extra cash for SSD is better.

Have you check it with Devour?

It might come with freeDos and lower RRP... . Then 4GB or 8GB + mSATA SSD might be possible around 3k...
Y400 come with mSATA slot for mSATA SSD.

Suggest to get u2/u3 cooler which have better cooling than ultrabay fans due to large ventilation area at the bottom of Y400.

U2/U3 cooler better price/performance.
Ultrabay fan not powerful enough.

Best is to wait for the detail specs & RRP for the upcoming Y400 then only you decide what to do.

Its the fastest GT750m with GDDR5 as reported in notebookcheck.

Its still worth the performance boost from gt650m/gtx660m to GT750m=gtx670m and gt750m sli close to gtx675mx.

Perhaps, he get mess up with Y400/GT650m.
Best is to get someone walk in and see with their own eye.

Its better to check with the resellers in garage sales. They have faster updates on any new model.

Some resellers already accept pre order for Y400/GT750m/W8 around RM26xx. Check it out at garage sales.

Y400/GT750m will come with W8 and freeDOS choices.

The local set Y500 is selling around RM34xx. Its not worth to get the grey imported set and best is to avoid it as you might end up with recon/refurnish set, 1 to 1 exchange/ major warranty claims issues , if you are unlucky.
