What OS version?, Where you buy phone sony, LYP or etc? How often it happen?

I hope all XPERIA V user can give some information, Maybe this can help us trace cause of SOD.
*

Do I have to do a factory reset after upgrading to JB? cos my phone seems to overheat and battery levels are inaccurate (from 79% suddenly increase to 85% then drop back to 78% in less than 10 seconds)

that's weird. i dont have such problem after updated to JB, but heat issue & battery drain quite fast is indeed have it.
eventhough im not using LTE connection
*
So should I do a factory reset? And will JB upgrade still remain even though i factory reset? or will it go back to ICS?

Did a factory reset and battery level still goes up and down but only for the first 3 hours. Battery level seems fine after the 3rd hour

QUOTE(neuromancerx @ Mar 7 2013, 10:28 AM)
guys, need your opinion here. i'm planning to replace my aging galaxy s2. have been thinking to buy sony phone for my next purchase and shortlisted few model (ion, tx and v).

went to sony shop yesterday to physically see and feel the dummy set for the above mentioned models. Physically, i'm prefer ion and tx due to its larger screen. But the salesman told me to buy the v instead because it's the latest model and they're giving rm200 off from thr RRP for the v model. The offer only valid for 2 days, today will be the last day for the offer, tomorrow v price will back to normal RRP.

I'm not really excited to buy the v because of the screen size is same with my current S2, except the resolution is higher on the v side.

So, is it worth to buy the v? I never use sony phone before. Appreciate for any advise.
*
My own comparison of V and S2:

Looks: I prefer the looks of V over S2.
Build quality: Creaks can be heard from the back cover of V when pressed
Screen: V looks less vivid compared to S2
Processor: V is more powerful and less lag. 1.5GHz compared to 1.2 GHz in S2
Battery: Slight difference between them but V has better battery life
Camera: Images taken using V looks clearer and captures more detail. Superior Auto Mode works well in V. Front facing camera in V is disappointing (VGA only) compared to S2 (2mp)
Music: V sounds softer compared to S2 but has greater clarity
Other features in V: Bravia Engine 2, 4G LTE, water and dust resistant

Conclusion: I personally think that V is just a slight upgrade from S2

i don't really agree it's slight upgrade
processor wise, if only look at GHz, yes, it's only 0.3GHz diff. but bear in mind V uses S4 krait processor, which i think is the best dual core processor available. it's performance is comparable to some quad core processor
display wise, S2 only 480*800 resolution, about 210++ ppi only. V got 720*1280, about 340++ ppi. big diff here
rear camera, 13mp vs 8mp...
front camera... actually how many of us really use front camera? unless u always video chat la.
and u mention V have LTE and wat er and dust resistance. huge advantage already!
*
There is still some noticeable lag in V but S2 lags more. Not to mention S2 G version is capped at 1080 MHz

I'm talking about the colour saturation on the screen. The colour saturation on S2 is totally different from V due to the AMOLED screen.

Camera's mp does not really determine the image quality. The new HTC One only has a 4mp resolution camera and I think it captures better photos than V. I'm not really amazed with the V's camera but I think it's better than S2.

I don't really care about the front facing camera but it is really disappointing. The image quality is bad.

LTE connection is still not available throughout Malaysia. I still have not used the 4G LTE even though I'm currently using the V.

Water resistant feature. I don't think that's a real big advantage unless you are a clumsy person who drops your phone in the toilet bowl everyday. Or you go swimming with your phone everyday. Even with the water resistant feature, I'm still not going to dip my phone in the water. It's just that in case that if I drop my phone in the water, my phone is still fine. Nothing more. It's not that I'm going to show off the water resistant feature in front of everyone.

I think this SOD will disappear when it reach a certain hours usage. That's just my guess. My phone SOD twice during 4.0.4 and after upgrade to 4.1.2, now it's already a month my phone Free from SOD.
*
Nope I dont think so. Many users are still complaining on the net about this SOD problem. SOD usually occurs during charging with wifi on

My phone overheats in less than 10 mins of usage. So, I think overheating is a common problem for this phone?

Greetings from Indonesia smile.gif

I just got my XperiaV earlier this week, already updated to JB, so far so good..no SoD, working fast and smooth.

I turn off google now to conserve battery power. I'm a moderate-to-heavy user and my battery can last up to 15 on a single charge. is there any battery replacement with same size & higher capacity? (i already saw the mugen extra battery, but it comes with an extra back cover and will make your phone look ugly, haha). Anybody here have a problem with auto brightness?it seems not working on my phone..any solution?thanks...Cheers
*
What do you mean by your auto brightness not working?

I mean, the backlight does not change along with our sorounding light condition. i tried to set "automatic brightness" outside when it was sunny, but nothing happened..so now i use some widget to change the brightness quickly & manually..anybody has same problem?
*
The backlight does change with the surrounding light condition but it's only a very slight change. If you want it brighter out in the sun, then no choice, have to set manually
