How much you bought it ? So you just install your OS and diablo in your SSD ? Other apps/data/movies/songs/etx at other hdd?

Rm345.

Most software install on the SSD, while media files are stored in a separate drive. Only Diablo III was installed on the SSD as it was the game I have issue with the stuttering. I don't think my WD Green HDD was able to handle the game well when it comes to streaming data. No more ridiculous pauses when I go between control panel settings too. Shut down was so fast that my google chrome browser assume my PC crashed!

I've been using Win 7 64-bit, Diablo III (and many other games) have no problem running on it.

I'm getting annoyed with the stuttering when playing Diablo III. Any significant improvement when using SSD?

SSD is a huge investment, but I read there is a trick to use thumb drive to cache certain data so the game will perform better.

Which is a better solution?

Write down your FULL System Spec here, bros. before doing anything stupid. (eg. Upgrade to SSD to reduce lag.)

I even install Diablo 3 in my Compaq Presario CQ40, AMD Turion 2.1GHz with Radeon HD3250.
Lowest Setting, but no lag.

Not to mention the powerbeast gaming rig in my room...
( Note : my rigs do not have any SSD. Run Diablo 3 at 1920x1080 max setting, 50~55fps )

Edit :
Most PPL that talk/support SSD here really have near to Zero understanding about SSD...

BUY A SSD = Improve System Performance ? ( Correct, but not effective )
SSD Work great for Server ( IO performance 10x improvement compare even RAID HDD configuration )
SSD for gaming RIGs ?

How to Improve Game Performance?

A modern Game requirement :
Pixel Fill rate, Polygon draw draw
How fast your System fill the every pixel on screen, drawing 3D polygon

Anti Aliasing, Smoothing Edge, Depth of Field, HD Bloom, All Visual Effect
Further process and applied effect before the image publish ot your screen.

In game calculation / physic / similation
All the reaction in game, physic, AI, rng, all about numbers.

How a computer process game/application?
HDD/SSD (from hdd, the file,texture)
RAM (File are temporary stored in RAM waiting to be processed)
CPU/GPU ( Process the output )
Your Screen

SSD can speed up the loading speed. End of story.
Check Tomshardward, Hardwarecanuck, 3Dguru, Anandtech. See the bench, They not even TEST SSD with framerate improvement.....

GUYS, be a bit smart lah, check event the CoD 6 Highest Setting Requirement not even mention a SSD...............................................
Buy SSD to improve Game performance, u can if you have MAX OUT EVERY PART of your PC except HDD.

WAKE UP, dont act like a sheep ( ppl said what, you followed what ) go do some research.

Please dude, read the rest of the thread. You missed out on the spec I wrote down, as well as various tricks (anti virus removal, thumb drive trick, defrag, etc).

The SSD investment was worth it, and I get better windows performance because of it.

if you ask me,

i will go RAID before SSD.

SSD for noob. ( no setting needed, high price, fast speed, ultra low storage )

RAID for pro. ( complex setting, low price, double speed compare HDD, FULL capacity )

RAID is when your SSD has low capacity. Nowadays SSD have sufficient capacity on its own. You will need to do alot of settings for RAID and you will still not get speed as great as SSD on its own.

Before you jump the gun on others, I was one of those who switch HDD to SSD. And I can tell you it's a fantastic upgrade. From bootup speed to wonderful loading game performance.

You can actually still configure your SSD to be in RAID mode but why the need to if your SSD is big enough to hold most of it's application on its own.

Can you fix your attitude first? This "RAID for pro, SSD for noob" only paints you as an arrogant PC elitist who could not see the pros and cons of technology.

RAID for SSD??? sound like a freak for me.
You didnt understand me.

I see some folks with Radeon HD5850/6770, go upgrade SSD, and even go RAID SSD???
Still cannot own BF3/CoD

Upgrading PC can be complicated.

Let me enlighten you guys :

How to upgrade your OVERALL GAMING EXPERIENCE :

Graphic :
FPS ( frame per second )
The Image quality ( DoF, anti alias.. )
Screen Resolution ( did you max out your screen resolution, your GPU capped your screen? )
Screen Size, bigger screen = bigger enjoyment. ( i wont play a game with screen less than 30 inch )

Sound :
Many amateur gamer here really forget this part.
A Good APU can Reproduce the sound quality. - visit Sound Blaster X-Fi official, see how a good sound card can change your GAME.
Pro-logic Speaker System. Quality and Reality sound. If your enviroment do not allowed large speaker setup, see those Razer 7.1 Headset.
REALITY FEEL Sound, your game become life!

Control
Why Razer/Steelseries mouse can be so different? I dont answer this noob question here.
Other than mouse, keyboard, mousepad can help you enjoy the game much better, and conformable.

Internet Speed
Upgrade SSD? Upgrade your 3G Broadband MAKE MORE SENSE. SSD cannot kill lag, but a unifi/fibre/fixed line connection helps alots.

Enviroment
A good chair infront your PC table. If you got the money to upgrade SSD, change your bloody plastic chair 1st.......

I am a guy who know how to spend my every single cent and get MAXIMUM POSSIBLE ENJOYMENT.

SSD always not a Priority Upgrade.
( If you are good with Computer, your window stay clean and fast always. )

Why i said RAID for PRO,
When you add another HDD into your PC, your Storage go double, and your HDD speed go double.
You paid for the price of 1 HDD, but you improve the speed of your older HDD.

Imagine the price for 500GB SDD, how many items you can upgrade your OVERALL PC Performance.......
ONLY IF YOU MAX OUT YOUR PC ALREADY, SSD IS THE LAST GREAT UPGRADE.
For your reference :
Intel Series520 - 240GB SSD ~ RM880 (not the fastest version)
