Not the whole dashboard, I have not reach that level yet. Only the instrument cluster, which is relatively easy.I am still struggling with the center air-con/radio console

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 23 2013, 01:55 PM) In my unsuccessful attempts, I did not notice a screw that is well hidden. But I will try again later when there is an opportunity. From what I read elsewhere, according to one source you have to remove 5 screws. But from my observation it looks like only the one screw (hidden in a small cover/flap) is related to the console, see photo. After removing the 2 dials and slide levers (easily pulled out), the radio, remove this screw and see if the cover can budge. If not the other 4 screws are in the ashtray and the underside. QUOTE(Albert B @ Jul 23 2013, 04:12 PM) Looking at the pic I guess the bulbs should be as circled in the photo. Looks like same type of bulb as the instrument cluster. Oh, mistake here - NOT the same type of bulb as meter cluster. The socket only looks like it. From what I read there is a little 'condom' covering the bulb. |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jul 23 2013, 04:39 PM) For mine (photo in post # 2485), I could easily pull the whole radio cassette unit outwards about half inch without any special tools, though I have not fully remove it yet. (Sometimes it moves out a bit by itself due to vibration and I have to push back in). Not sure with other users, maybe the models change and they come with special lock/removal tools.Definitely have to remove the HU, its flanges is blocking the cover. I think your Alpine HU comes with special tools, as my previous car it was 2 hooks with thumb grip to free the locking bracket and pull out the unit. |

QUOTE(megadisc @ Jul 23 2013, 10:53 PM) I think what you meant is the meter cluster (speedometer/rpm/fuel.temp gauges). The instructions are reposted here:Meter cluster 1) Pry out the push switches (air-con, demister, hazard etc) at the sides, and unplug their sockets 2) Unscrew 4 screws that secures the hood (2 under top, 2 at bottom). 3) Remove the hood. 4) You can see the meter cluster secured by another 4 screws. Remove these screws. 5) The meter cluster is attached to the speedo cable and 2 wiring sockets. Disconnect the 2 wiring sockets. 6) Disconnect the speedo cable by pressing on a clip (I think is white colour)(Below is sample picture illustration of speedo cable clip connection) . You have to stand outside the car and see through the windscreen. This step is a bit tight because of cramped space, but you can push the speedo cable from the engine compartment to allow more access space. After disconnecting speedo cable you can remove the whole cluster. 7) The bulbs are removed by turning 90 degrees and can be remove thru their slots. looking for every sifu's help here.
lately im into restoring my iswara's ride comfort. i replaced the shocks, restored it to original spring (stupid previous owner chopped the spring), changed both the lower arms. this does improve the ride comfort, however not up to the standard i want. i drove my mum's iswara (1998, but only done 100k mileage, relatively new), the ride comfort difference is very pronounced. my mum's iswara is using 185/60/14 goodyear eagle ga tyres, while im using 175/70/13 dunlop j3. do the tyres affect ride comfort? what else should i consider changing? all bushes? do they affect alot? or it's the whole axle aging? thanks |

QUOTE(The Silent Killer @ Jul 26 2013, 01:46 AM) do the tyres affect ride comfort? what shocks you've been using? if comfort, KYB oil is the among the bestwhat else should i consider changing? all bushes? do they affect alot? or it's the whole axle aging? also are the springs original ones and not sport/hardened springs? Consider 14" sport rims if you can find, or just straight away 15" and go for good comfort tires such as yokohama's c drive 2. and yes tires do affect NVH considerably its best if you can specifically mention what is lacking (eg: car not stable going through road imperfections, noise etc) |
