hi guys, im planning to go for a trip somewhere around April.

My flight transit in Amsterdam. Can i go out from the airport just to snap some pictures.

my transit time is 50 minutes and 1 hour 25 minutes back n forth respectively.
*
based on my experience, in some big airport, if transit time around 1 hour, there will be no time to go out. You need to check 1st whether you need to check-in again or not during transit. Also need to check the gate distance. 1 hour is barely enough for you to check-in and walk to new gate.

Hello guys, I am now in the united states, and my parents are going to visit me sometime in May this year.

Does any of you guys know that am I able to book the flight ticket online, let's say from cathay pacific homepage, from malaysia to USA, and give them the tickets information by sending them the email conformation/itinerary, so that they can check in from malaysia?

I am trying to do this because it's so much cheaper to buy a roundtrip flight ticket from here, than it will cost in malaysia.
*
If the itinerary sent to you by email, why cannot... just resent to your family and ask them to print it. But you need to check how to check later. Like Air Asia can do web check in, so easy. Cathay also have it http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_INTL/m.../olci/aboutolci

Hi, thank for your reply.

One more question does air asia provide free baggage allowance? If yes what is the free baggage allowance?
*
Nothing free...

AskAirAsia > Menu Before You Fly > Add-Ons
Do you provide free check in baggage allowance?

No. If you travel with check in baggage you will be charged a fee at different rates depending on the airport from which you fly. You may access our fee schedule here. Do be aware that you will be charged a flat rate for the first 15kg and a different rate for each additional kg at the airport.

You can however save on baggage charges by pre-booking baggage online at airasia.com during the booking process or via Manage My Booking. A minimum of 15kg of checked baggage may be purchased at first instance and you can UPSIZE at the incremental weight of 5kg or SUPERSIZE it to 30kg. If you UPSIZE or SUPERSIZE your baggage four hours or more before scheduled departure, you can save up to 50% on charges.

If your actual baggage weight is less than the pre-booked weight, fees paid are non-refundable. However, baggage weight is transferable from one guest to another, if they are travelling on the same itinerary.

on MAS, do we allowed to bring food onboard hand luggage? previously tried Air Asia no problem, from krabi to m'sia.
1st time using MAS to KK.
*
KK mean Kota Kinabalu? If yes... then Total Flying Time 2h 35m

In my MAS Booking confirmation:
Note: Meal will be served on flights where the flying time is more than 60min.

Airasia FAQ
QUOTE
AskAirAsia Menu Before You Fly Check In
What are the rules for hand carried baggage on board?
You are allowed one piece of cabin baggage of up to 7kg and/or 1 laptop bag or 1 handbag onboard, each of which should not exceed the size dimensions. Our overhead compartments in the aircraft cabin are built to hold a certain size and weight of baggage. Anything exceeding these dimensions put our guests at risk of injury from falling objects should there be turbulence mid-air.

Size Dimensions: Cabin baggage should not exceed dimensions of 56cm X 36cm X 23cm.
Weight: Cabin baggage must not weigh more than 7kg

Such baggage should also fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment in the cabin. The approved cabin baggage must be tagged with a cabin bag tag.

You are also allowed to bring along your musical instrument onboard instead of a laptop or handbag, provided it does not exceed the approved weight and size.

If your musical instrument is larger than the stated dimensions we would advise you to buy another seat to safeguard against potential damage in the cargo hold.

hi,
i will further study to Taiwan.

will need to bring along my sewing machine, picture as below.

[attachmentid=3559535]

[attachmentid=3559549]

weight : 6.2kg

dimension : 40cm(w) x 31cm(h) x 17cm(d)

i wonder if I could bring it on board as hand carried,
as check-in luggage will definitely spoiled it.
*does this socket work in Taiwan?
no point for me to bring along if Taiwan's socket and walt doesn't work on my sewing machine...

[attachmentid=3559534]
thanks a lot ^^
*
why put in check-in luggage will spoil it? Just make sure put in a hard case luggage with a very good padding. use a lots of sponge for padding. Anyway found out that brother innovis 50 have it's own hard case.

Taiwan is using:
user posted image

and voltage is 110V, make sure you sewing machine able to use 100-240V. Some appliance sell in Malaysia only can use 240V. In that case you also need the step-up adapter.

Another question on room upgrades.

Recently I booked one room through HotelClub with the following offer:
Special Offers: Rate includes: Super Saver-Save Up to 8%, FREE Breakfast & Upgrade

In this case, is the room upgrade automatic (confirm will get), or need to request?

Thanks  smile.gif

QUOTE(zodius @ Feb 18 2014, 04:39 PM)
Hi, i will travel to Taiwan next week for work purpose, my boss ask me to bring 4 laptop over to the Taiwan branch office to replace the poor performance of my taiwanese colleagues over there. i am also required to bring a 1U Cisco switch. can i handcarry those mentioned item? will it blocked by customs? i rather not put it in checked in luggage, later if got stolen or broken then i will be in big big trouble.
*
Yes can hand carry but must within 7kg weight and can put all in one bag. The only worst thing need to do is to remove all laptop and put on the tray for scanning. Malaysian custom normally don't have any issue, but when you arrive, I cannot predict, each country have own rules and regulations.

I thought should be easy to buy a new laptop at taiwan.

As for 1U cisco switch, I think better check-in. From my trip few years back to canada, my friend who carry the cisco router need to do some explanation in the room. Almost 1 hour waiting for him. But he lucky enough because he use the 'Rasmi' passport not normal passport. The authority in the airport even called to Malaysia office to verified the purpose of carry-in the cisco there. He also have a letter to show to the officer.

Better try to get some other alternative, maybe courier the item to taiwan 1st before you go.
