Depends where you are flying to.
If domestic then no problems.

As long as it's within the allowed size and weight.
You can check the other thread on backpacks. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1233513/+1040

Generally below 40L is okay. More than that, it depends.

Hey guys and gals,

Is there any restriction on bringing selfie sticks onboard AirAsia international flights?

Is metal selfie stick is not allowed on carry on luggage?

i'm having the same question too, even for local flights. I wonder if the airport security will allow monopod to be carried as the hand carry baggage

I just got back from my trip: Malaysia to Thailand, Thailand to Cambodia, and Vietnam to Malaysia.
All three flights allowed me to bring my monopod in my carry on bag.
No issue.

No i didnt take it out.
I left it inside my bag. I believe it is safer that way. Else they can ask questions. =)

Want to ask, is it cheaper to book flights for more than 9pax using their the airline's group booking or best is doing 2 separate bookings via their website?

Hi guys i have question regarding booking.com

I have booked several hotels from these 2 websites and the payment option i put 'cash' and pay it when i am there. I thought I can cancel it anytime for free but it is not. Well, if i don't want to stay at the hotels, can i just withdraw my money completely from my saving account so that they can't charge me?

what if in the future i deposit money into my this saving account, will they still remember and charge me in future?

Can I have two hand-carry bags on board instead of one standard cabin baggage and a hand bag?

(The two hand bags combined weigh no more than 7kg)

Its like writing a bounce cheque. There should be law to protect the merchants from people like you. You are not the first to think of that. Maybe they will charge you with lawyer letter.

Depend on the gate agents but its risky and hoarding other people's overhead bin space.

Urgent question. Will be travelling this weekend via MAS. International flight.

My flight tix was booked by travel agency. However, they have omitted "binti" from my name (as per passport). Will this cause an issue?

I am getting conflicting answers from google search.

Honestly, I'm not sure. If it's a left out "space" or front to back first name last name thing, then usually no problem.

Try calling MAS helpline and see if they can do anything about it. What did the travel agency say?

Btw, when you edit the post to tag ppl, it doesn't appear in the notification yea. sweat.gif

The "-" is not exactly in our passport. I had an issue when converting my Malaysian driving license to NZ driving license because my name in passport and name on Malaysian driving license was different because of the "-".

But other than that, no issues so far travelling. Sometimes my middle and last name are joined together also no problem. biggrin.gif

Oooo cool thread. Since 2006 somore.

Not sure if its written already, but in a bit more details, heres some additional tips:
  • Photostat your Passport front and back.
  • Write the local embassy's address and phone number on it.
  • Do the same on a sticky note and stick it in your ori passport.
  • ALWAYS Keep them separately. As in geographically, like hotel room/with you, not with you and in your bag ur carrying around.

  • Have your insurance(travel or otherwise) card in a visible pocket in your wallet.
  • KNOW what your insurance cover. Read it atleast once. Do you know how many hours flight delay before u get xxx money for hotel n stuff? How about stolen stuff coverage? Also keep the boarding pass, they tell me its important for claims.

  • Check out the local sim card charges before you go over. Example : Indonesia's sim card is RM1 with like 0.50 credit (thats 4 minutes talk time). Toss in RM1.60, its 25mb data for a day. Rm10 is 340mb for a week.

  • Have all devices charged. Stuff happens, it can be a forgotten stuff (me), wrong ticket bought (me), detained by immigration (almost me), flight delays (everyone) and so on so forth.
  • Dont surf n game until you have no battery life left. You will need some power for when you arrive. I've had to call taxi cos hotel forgot, call people to rearrange appointments due to delays and so on so forth.

  • Call your bank, tell them ur travel dates and approve ur debit/credit card usage. Now is also the time to change the credit limits.

  • If the difference between a budget airlines and full service airline isnt much, take the full service airline. Trust me, when stuff happens you will appreciate it.

  • As a frequent traveler, I keep money in my wallet, passport holder and one other place. Everyone knows and does this. (or should if you havnt) But how much money?
  • For me, all of them is in the local currency enough to get 2x to airport by taxi, and MYR 2x the amount of my taxi. I've used this money when my ATM card got suspended overseas, when I forgot to have enough money for bfast in KLIA in "travel" wallet, snf to give money to a friend who didn't have enough money to pay for taxi and outgoing airport tax.
  • Those are minimum amounts btw.

  • Carry a pack of pocket tissue.

Got lots of lemons confiscated when coming back from overseas to KL. Please note that citrus fruits are no longer allowed in starting this year.
