QUOTE(greyshadow @ Feb 24 2006, 03:53 AM) Always check the weather forecast of your destination before you travel. I disagree with this- weather forecasts change from hour to hour. It is impossible to accurately predict the weather beyond a couple of hours accurately. It is only useful to get a rough idea of what to expect.A good place to check is at www.weather.com You can get a 10 day weather forecast from there, then from there you can estimate what to expect from the weather there. Either you need an extra pack of sunblock, caps or extra raincoat or umbrella. |

Well... I didn't say predict accurately right?
I just say can estimate what to expect... Better to be prepared than sorry, right? Like last time I had a trip to Korea during summer, which the travel agent claim it hardly rain during that period. But when I check the weather forecast just prior departure... there's a forecast of heavy storm for those past few days... and we did pack extra raincoats and umbrellas, and made extra arrangement for indoor activities just in case. |

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Feb 24 2006, 01:23 PM) He was right, u missed out the shoes thg.Its believed that the shoes should not be placed nicely. In the hotel, we should always simply dump the shoes at one corner. Correct me if im wrong. (I dont understd this thou. Can someone pls explain?) The weather forecast from official website is quite accurate actually. 10 days before and 10 days later not many changes. Either from "Mostly Cloudy" to "Cloudy", or from "Rain" to "Clearing", somethg like that. So i depend on the weather forecast quite alot. Sometimes delay my trip bcoz of the forecast also. But make sure u check the correct one - check a specific area and not checking the whole country, the country is so big, if u check the whole then of coz not accurate. |

Err... he quoted my weather tips... that's why I don't understand, while juichuan has a shoe tips just above my post, that's why I tot he mis-quoted
Anyway back to the shoe thingy in the hotel. The oldtimers here advice not to arrange your shoes nicely, especially right in front of the entrance. It's better to scatter it or just flip one of the shoe upside down. Can't remember the exact reason for doing so... something about the spirit will wear you shoes if it's arrange nicely at the entrance... or something like your spirit leaving lar... can't remember About the one shoe being flip upside down is sort of representing the yin & yang in Pa Kua, thus protecting you |

QUOTE(abang brother @ Mar 5 2006, 04:25 AM) actually you remind me of something very important with regards to mobile phones when travelling internationally: make sure that your mobile is supported at the region you travel to! Make sure its a triband phone at the very least; if its quadband, even better! |

Make sure its a triband phone at the very least; if its quadband, even better! If you will be staying in that country for a longer period (more than 2-3 days) and expect to make local calls, then consider getting a local prepaid SIM card there. It will be a lot cheaper than getting roaming charges on your mobile bill when you get back home.As for health, consider bringing a supply of vitamin pills on your trip, and taking them daily. I usually bring multivit+minerals and vitamin C which I take daily. Also drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated. Getting dehydrated increases your chances of falling sick. And if you are going to be getting it "on", don't forget protection! Better be safe then sorry. |

- Soap could be use to wash some light garments like your briefs or socks.
- dry them by hanging them over the lamp ( becarefull not to get it burned ) or, i prefer to use the hair dryer to do the job . - Shower caps could be used as a rain coat for your camera. Simply make a hole big enuff to stuff your lens thru on the shower cap, then put the shower cap on your camera to protect it against rain, or sand ( if you're visiting desert ) -will add more if i remember anything. |
