IF we have the option to get 810, I'll seriously consider it against 920. 4.3" screen fits me better (though it is a bit thicker than 920).

none of these nokia phones will come with the wireless charging pads out of the box right? Probably have to fork out another 100-200 for the pad as an accessory? Not worth sia.
*
If I'm not mistaken 820 or 810 will.
Edit - I think I'm mistaken. tongue.gif

Which aspect of multitasking you're referring to?

The last I checked, notification is instant. If you're referring to Whatsapp, then refer to my previous posts. Purchasing a "paid" account solves your problem.
*
Is it? I read a few times already the notification is delayed. I don't know cz I'm not a wp user. Hope u will tell me otherwise cz i really want wp to be good.

I got this from wpcentral. This is to me the clearest way of explaining "multitasking" in WP. (Don't know if this guy is telling the truth or not. Jonchai, with your knowledge of WP, would u be so kind to give your input in this?)

QUOTE
1) WP allows features to multitask (not entire apps), i.e. a feature Microsoft called "background music" allowed us to play music while simultaneously using other apps. Background file transfer was another such feature. For WP8 this will be expanded to features such as background location (navigation) and background VOIP.

2) Devices with more RAM (1GB instead of 512 MB) will allow us to fast-app-switch between more than just five apps.

Both of these concepts already exist in WP7, they've just been expanded upon in WP8. Multitasking in WP8 will be no more "true" than it was in WP7.

In general, WP8 apps will not multitask. Fast-app-switching is the closest WP will get to true multitasking (this is a deliberate design decision). Unfortunately, fast-app-switching isn't something the OS can automatically provide for each app. Instead, each app must support it explicitly, but this isn't mandatory for WP7. For WP8 I hope fast-app-switching support becomes mandatory. I don't know that it will be, but I am hopeful.

From the above, I think i'll be ok with WP's "Multitasking". It make sense, if this is what it takes to keep the phone smooth and fast, I'm all for it. I just hope the developers will not let WP down.

The disadvantage of this way of multitask is as below, a real situation example.

QUOTE
I was making a call from the phone app and I wanted to switch to the calendar app so I could look at an item during a call, but the OS would not allow it. In addition I ended up with the Phone app appearing in the multitasking view 3x!

I'd still be ok with this (I think).

Thanks man, very clear. Appreciate u taking time to explain this. From what I understand, this multitasking isn't much different from iOS. Don't think it will be a problem to me.

QUOTE(aspire2oo6 @ Oct 26 2012, 12:18 PM)
I am not talking about drag and drop usually both are supported i am talking about micro sd support only available for 820 and not 920.

Before this drag and drop is already available since the earlier generation of nokia symbian so its nothing new when this feature is available they support to add it there.
*
Of cz la it has been available for Symbian but it's new for WP. That's why he brought it up, it's a new feature for WP. And that new feature is drag &drop, phone n micro SD to pc. And of cz, the micro SD drag & drop is for the wp phone that has micro sd. It's simple really.

Oh btw, congrats on your note2. I think everyone know by now u have one and we all couldn't be happier for u. smile.gif

Why the heck is HTC given the lead role in wp8 launch? Is it because Nokia fell asleep again? The 8X is touted as the 'signature' WP8 experience. Even wpcentral is using 8X for their WP8 review.

Bluetooth file transfer is very much supported on WP8. Just not on WP7.8 / 7.5.

Pocketnow is saying it supports photos, pdf, documents transfer but not songs.
Can't wait for 920 hands on, right now it's all 8X.

yup same like those song cds which won't let ppl make copies of it. By right though, we if we bought it, it's up to us what to do with it as long as we don't sell it. But this is a different matter altogether.

another thing that catches my attention is smart dialing is still missing.

What do u mean by smart dialing?

Like press and hold a number then it will auto dial to the person?

If that's the feature you're talking about, then it already exists. It's called tiles. You pin the "smart dial person" to start, tap, call. It's even faster than smart dial on Android where you need to bring up the keypad and press & hold.
*
No that's speed dialing.

QUOTE
Smart Dialing basically lets you find and dial a specific contact in a few very easy steps, by filtering out Contacts on your Device (both Outlook and SIM). Let’s say I want to call Brandon, what do I do? I birng up the Dialpad and I start typing once the numbers of the letters that correspond to Brandon: 2 for B, 7 for R, 2 for B, just like T9. As I keep typing in the numbers, Smart Dialing keeps filtering out my Contacts one by one, as soon as I enter information just to let me with one Contact filtered at the end: the one that matches my criteria of “Bra” (“272″).

Not a deal breaker to me but a very useful feature, especially considering how lazy I am tongue.gif

The full list of markets mentioned for November for the Nokia Lumia 920 is Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand,  Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, the US and Vietnam.

Dafuq Thailand & Vietnam in the list but not Malaysia? Did they somehow confuse Vietnam with Malaysia?

I find this very useful for me and when I found WP lacking of this feature, I use TellMe (hold Windows logo to launch) to dial a number which really helps sometimes but my pronunciation must be accurate when screaming their names "call luckyhillkop office" and return "sorry, can't find that name in your contact list".
*
hehe maybe in wp8 it will work better since they claim to improve voice command massively.

Smart dialing? Is it like if you need to call Jonchai, instead of searching in contact, you can press 5 (JKL) 6(MNO) like that?
*
Yup like that

QUOTE(murv90 @ Oct 30 2012, 01:26 PM)
Because they have a bigger market in Thailand and Vietnam. Bigger country = bigger sales. Malaysia is too small so not given much priority. Most probably we will get on the second batch only. Hopefully that's before next year. smile.gif

*
Sigh not good if have to wait for second batch. While they are delaying 920, Nexus 4 is looking like a great option for me. Price is cheap some more.

Data Sense is native. It monitors your outgoing bandwidth usage. It's not carrier bound, so no worries there.

You go in, set your limit, and leave it. It will prompt you when usage nears limit, that's about it.

As far as I'm concerned, USSD is in (according to Windows 8 SDK). WP8 SDK is not released until tomorrow, but if Windows 8 has it, I don't see why WP8 doesn't.
*
Can't remember now but I read somewhere that it's carrier bound. And it's more than just a data monitoring feature, it can automatically adjust your setting to save on your data usage when ur about to reach limit, like making wifi a priority for data etc.

I believe that's the part about the compression. If carrier, doesn't support, your data sense can make do without the compression, much like Nokia Counters

Can't help it. WP8 is the first time I'm getting all hyped up about phones well since the old symbian days. Ios never impressed me much. Android always had some problems and evolved so quickly with manufacturers keep coming out with countless number of phones in a matter of months. Let's see what WP8 can do. Especially Nokia. Hardware wise their unbeatable.
*
Same with me, I'm just not interested with other phones. WP8 and 920 change that.
