P2314H is normal IPS panel.

some of models review from tftcentral are inaccurate. many champalang cheap IPS monitors also wrote as AH-IPS.
Do you know what's the requirements certified as AH-IPS panel? tell us, what is the color gamut in sRGB spec in P2314H.

in general, you can assume which series of Dell monitors categories as below:
1. E-Series (Business Entry Series)
2. S-Series (Consumer Series)
3. Professional Series (Business User Series)
4. UltraSharp Series (Dell Premium Highest End Series)

the pricing also roughly sort in order

I'm not sure what's the selling price now, can't tell it's worth or not. if you asking the display good or not, it's always depend on end user requirements. Yes, I used this model before.

you can use the search function here, this question asked many times before and answer is here. S2440L is not IPS panel, is VA panel. the most important is, you're happy with this monitor

just to share the confirm spec again:
S2440L = VA panel
S2740L = IPS panel (but is not AH-IPS panel)

if you only want 16:10 panel, beside U2412M, can consider U2413. also in 16:10 ratio, improved model of U2412M, better color gamut, better panel.

latest model is U2414H, in 16:9. I don't think Dell gonna launch any more new 16:10 monitor.....

if already narrow down to these 2 models. I voted for U2414H.

No, only power, usb, vga & dvi cables for U2312HM.
Starting from those newer model with legacy vga & dvi ports removed, then displayport cable are included.

Samsung high end or 9-series monitor too expensive for me. IMO, AH-IPS can simple beat samsung PLS panel....

No. U2414H is not neither AH-IPS nor E-IPS but just standard IPS panel. If you want AH-IPS Dell Monitor, just look for Dell PremierColor feature model (e.g. U2413), there are all AH-IPS. The rest of non-PremierColor UltraSharp, either is e-IPS (e.g. U2312HM), and newer models mostly are standard IPS panel.

No, don't have such issue. I guess there's normal via DP for the setting revert to smallest resolution as happen to mine as well when I switch off the monitor when away while system still running, which I found this when I remote my desktop.

back to your issue, how you connect your mouse and keyboard?

U2414H using DisplayPort or HDMI? confirm input setting at monitor checked when encounter this issue?
Old Monitor using what connection? what video card using? any other system tested with?

if for me, I will shut down if want to save power. since booting time nowadays already very short.
