Hi everyone, i'm building my first desktop rig which will be used for gaming (bros play ps2 emulator, battlefield 3 and WOW) whereas i use it to watch movie (1080p)...the following is my rig:

i5 3570K-->RM740
SAPPHIRE AMD RADEON HD 7850 256bit 2GB DDR5 (PCIE 3.0) - OC Version-->RM797
ASUS P8Z77-V LX-->RM430
1000GB Western Digital 16M SATAIII - WD10EALX / WD10EZEX-->RM262 (not sure if this is caviar blue 7200rpm)
CORSAIR CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 (4GB 1600MHz x 2) - Vengeance Dual -->RM262
CM STORM ENFORCER-->RM288
CORSAIR Gaming Series GS600watts -->RM318

total RM3097

any recommendation and advice? Budget would be RM3.5K

my primary concerns are the power supply, and motherboard.
For mother board, any better suggestions? also, what is the difference between ASUS P8Z77-M and ASUS P8Z77-V LX besides the price:p...In terms of power supply, i tried using neweggs calculator and it says ~450W...is 600 gaming series above enough...a side note is that i have an extra caviar green 2Tb HDD to add on including one DVD-RW optical drive...as for RAM, is it advisable to use CORSAIR vengeance dual 1866Mhz? would it make any significant difference?any advice are greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much in advance!:D

u dont need performance ram as they dont have much effects on games.As for the p8z77-m and the p8z77-vlx is that vlx has more PCIE x1 and PCI slots which are not important and the VLX is an ATX board. where are u buying all these? they are kinda expensive.

Hi AssToast, thanks so much for the reply and advice! yeah the prices are a bit expensive as i'm getting them from swisspac/pcdepot (not sure if there is any other reliable supplier in penang)...anyway, i have some queries on the set you listed:
1) why do i need a CM Hyper 212 EVO and not use the standard issued intel heatsink?
2)for the graphics card, AMD radeon 7850 is not good enough for my purposes?:S
3)is seasonic 620W better than the corsair gaming GS600W? i read many forums saying corsair is good enough...

thanks in advance...biggrin.gif

Added on August 31, 2012, 11:40 pm
erm, i do overclock sometimes (for learning/testing purposes) and would like to have the option when the time comes:P thanks for the help anyway!:D appreciate it!:)
*
1)Well, when u overclock it gets hotter than usual so u wanna make sure the processor is cool
2)7850 is good enough but since u have enough budget for an GTX670, why not?
3)Corsairs are good but seasonic are better

Added on August 31, 2012, 11:45 pmI suggest u get the parts from idealtech / Cyntrix / lingloong and have them post them to u, it would be cheaper. you could even have them assemble the parts then post it to u. i personally prefer idealtech

seasonic is the oem maker of the corsair top range gold psu, the AX series smile.gif

agreed with buying from forum sellers as mentioned, good prices and good services.
*
seasonic made the TX650 V2 too, the rest are made by CWT except HX and AX (not M)

cutting down to RM1500 with monitor included might not be able to play games with max settings

i will look for them , prefer someone to come over to my place and installed everything for me .
i know nothing about desktop.
the optional is not really necessary right?
what about for future upgrade base on the spec you give me?
*
u could just copy the list i gave u and send it to them and ask them about the price, they could assemble the whole thing for u and then send it to u, idealtech gives quite some nice discounts if u collect it

Added on September 1, 2012, 10:31 pmwell, u could probably upgrade the graphics card to an 7850 in the future, about the motherboard, the b75 has some newer stuffs like SATA 3 and USB 3.0
