If you got to ask me, Rooney is much poorer in this match. So he should not be an automatic first 11 for the next match as well?It is not we are poor (Rooney and Nani, looking at you now!), it's just Everton defended better. Distain and Jagielka are immense for crosses. They congested all avenues, leaving very little space to run at. Hibbert and Pienaar are solid defensively on the wings as well. PS: The commentator was a bit spot-on when one was asked why Vidic wasn't picking up Fellaini on the corner. His partner answered "And what about Jagielka?" |

It is not nice to be defeated, but, having weakened defence does contribute to the goal. Having said that, even though Kagawa is there, they didn't play much through him, or at least through the middle. They tend to play crosses more rather than try to play the ball in the middle, which clearly didn't work because we don't have a targetman there.
Kagawa looked neat and always moved into positions. I was wondering whether was it the tactics employed by SAF, or players haven't had confidence in Kagawa yet? Hopefully, in the next home game, they will redeem themselves and most of our defence back. Play that Buttner lad maybe, as Evra clearly needs a wakeup call. He looks complacent at times. |

I was really really really disappointed with the way the goal was conceded. The first thing I thought to myself was, "Why isn't anyone marking the near post?" Next thing I know, Fellaini won the header and it went in that through that hole. I really do not understand why nobody was marking that post. A team of Everton's calibre will surely take advantage of that kind of mistake. Anyone with any ideas why that happened?
Disappointing start to the season. I can only hope they pick themselves up after this and do something better next time. QUOTE(jackiewong @ Aug 21 2012, 05:25 AM) yes.. welbeck to be sub in so got energy to run here n there.. saf put too much faith on him.. putting young than welbeck is a better choice.. welbeck hardly to stay at his position as a winger.. all the time go middle.. You need to understand. Welbeck cutting in was SAF's intention in the first place. Nani and Welbeck and Kagawa playing behind Rooney. The full backs giving width by overlapping on the outside. This is a very very different style of play with last season. There was a lot of promising passing through the middle, and the team had the option to pass wide if they needed to as well, but sadly there is still no fluency in their passing right now. They are simply not passing fast enough and their movement off the ball is not effective enough. It will take time to build that fluency and playing against Everton at Goodison is a very, very difficult place to test themselves on a style of play that they are still not familiar with in the first place.QUOTE(siksa @ Aug 21 2012, 05:27 AM) 1 game worth 3point even a point is worth it even goal scored is worth it last season we lost because of goal difference,of course i am on panic mode. Dude. Chill man. This is only 1 game. It's a marathon. Not a sprint. |

I think people here are missing some point here... we are lack of choice at the back... against a very good aerial attacking Everton ... guess the reason why saf tried to use carrick.
The CM pair of clerverly + Scholes cannot help to protect the back four.... If you look at the Everton's defence... They actually park all their players in the middle which made MU attack from the middle more difficult... when we try to cross from wide... we had a poor crossing from nani and Evra was outplayed everytime by Everton's player. Kagawa is the only good point I see so far from this match other than De gea good saves.. He is the ony one who keep running and asking for ball.. IMO, the weakest point in this match is the CM and the winger... |

True.. what u said true.. if like what saf said about the competition within striker.. the 1 perform should stay.. out of form on the bench then.. perhaps.. next match rooney might start on the bench.. i would really like to see that.. luckily i didnt bash carrick.. CB not his post.. before the corner kick even started already expected that goal by just looking at the height.. sure da bao 1.. no choice.. cuz no other CB available.. but other position just plenty of them can play.. k la.. off to bed.. just get either Evans or Rio fit and we will be ready to go...and also valencia should not be the RB (only when there's no other RB available)...
and to think that we will be playing Fulham who won 5-0 in their first game....without a proper defense....sigh |
