Guys, don't speculate the salary range. It does not help with the expectations of any of these candidates.

Can tell me what he/she does to earn that much up to RM10k at office onshore? First I heard of it since I have couple of friends (grads) there.

Anyone ever notices that they are mostly inviting East Malaysians for phone interview and Shell Recruitment Day for the technical positions?

My SRD was attended by ALL East Malaysian candidates who were studying at different public and private universities in Malaysia. The same thing happened to my friends' SRD - either all East Malaysians or 5 out of 6 were. No diversity or whatsoever. Maybe they are trying to save cost by hiring locals to work for their operations in East Malaysia. Or there is a quota imposed to hire locals? In some cases, more than half of the candidates came from the same race.

Also, they didn't pick the most outstanding and powerful two or three candidates. Instead, they went for the mediocre and somewhat socially awkward candidates who couldn't even express themselves well in English. So to those who are going to attend their SRD, play your card right.

....it has become a habit in Malaysia for people to give preferences to their own race and SHELL is no exception. My interviewer was cold as an ice...attended it this week.

Why keep on looking for Shell? If looking for O&G companies, no doubt Shell are giving higher pay, but in the same time what you can contribute to the company?
In Middle East, there are more companies that looking for talent, why not try there? Even a security post also salary higher than what local Shell giving.
