Yah and all thanks to card manufacturer that differ one another generation by generation ...

each time a shifting from one G to another G .. .the compatibility issue would just rises and new cooler would be designed .. which most of time cooler are design according to different range of performance ..

no universal cooler that really fits all well .. .

and due to that we got tripple holes in our pocket every year ....

1st hole=CPU
2nd hole=GPU
3rd hole=HSF

Yah two at both sides of the pant and one at the back, so leaving you one pocket to store money for daily survival ..

so if u have a gf or wife then probably that pocket left is reserved for her...

I'm still wondering should I get HR-03 RD600, it's a bit expensive and yet the performance is not been reviewed ...

QUOTE(S4PH @ Oct 19 2007, 04:31 PM)
BRO,noob in the house here my fren just bought a 8600GTS by gigabyte it uses silent pipe system for cooling, when i installed the card and played bioshock i can play the game max 5min sometimes less the game freezes, checked with gigabyte utility the GPU runnin up to 91degrees after that is the best started to have artifacts when playing DIVX video especially the hi res videos, just wanna ask is the silent pipe cooling system not enough to cool down the card? By the way the card is running stock never OC it at all.If i install a exhaust fan underneath the 8600GTS will it help?Wana upgrade the cooling system on the 8600GTS afraid that warranty will void and my fren is on a tight budget after buying that card.
*
It depend on the airflow of the case, however the silent pipe doesn't works very well ..

grab a third party cooler and the temperature would gone down a lot ... probably by 30c ..

a thermalright HR-03 Rev A would do the job best but it's kind of expensive...

so far there's no other official cooler .. Accelero S1 seems to be able to fit but need tiny bit of mod

QUOTE(king99 @ Oct 22 2007, 09:29 AM)
For The S1 anyone tried the turbo setup.....want to find the best cooling....noise not a problem .(I max out game soung anyways biggrin.gif )
*
The turbo mode works well when u have a case with slightly poor airflow .. it helps to facilitate heat spreading ...

the performance gained according to reviews is about 10c to 15c .. vary from one setup to another coz it's subjective to case setup ...

if u really want to cool down just grab a 9 cm fan and mount it horizontal with simple mod ... it would does the job better than the turbo module..

you could but may not by par since it's clocked version ..

usually clocked version are just card manufactured with good core and mem that could handle the over clock margin ... .

that would pretty much depend on the type of cooler that used by ur fan ..

however most of time most fan that comes with the heat sink can be removed but hard to find replacement part ..

so it all depend on ur heat sink fan design ...

Those are known as M3 adhesive tape ... it's very sticky and bond strongly between to surface...

it still depend on dimension of the surface that applied with the adhesive tape...

@Zicron

hahah that's good piece of information ..

I wonder the load condition rather than idle .. coz load temperature is the biggest issue with this hot babe ... \

too hot !!!

hahah .. after reading the review it shows high at 60c shakehead.gif ... this is too much hmm.gif

but still better than stock cooler at 90c ...

btw I was actually almost wanted to buy one to try it out .. but it would be hard for me to sell it away over here ..

so still stick with WC .... cos my idle and load is at 38c / 44c whistling.gif

Make not too much of different ... but it should be quieter than stock cooler ..

still a good mod, can't wait to see when thermalright HR-03 GT performs on it ...

I've seen most mount it downward where the fan is used to cool off the entire card from bottom ...

Even I myself did the same before ....

hmm like u said the bottom of the card would be toasty cos lack of cooling approach while the top side depend on the presence of airflow ..

however one golden thumb rule would be active cooling is always better than passive cooling ...

HERE is something to read. Seems like best solution is the BTX solution.
*
hmm .. if not mistaken having cooler facing toward the GPU had temperature 54c ...

While having the cooler installed on other side of GPU with fan blowing toward the card achieved 55c ...

Lastly cooler installed on other side of GPU with fan sucking air away achieved 58c ...

I hoped I didn't translated it wrongly ....

I wonder performance could be increased by adding to more pipes into the heatsink .....

It would be interesting to see how far design of this cooler could maximize its performance within the given size,,,

Every graphic card could work beyond 80c in general ..

however it's not a good practice to maintain such heat level all the time ...

To know specifically at what temperature ur card could work stable ...

use ATI TOOL and loaded up the artifact test ... once it reaches a point where artifact shown .. that's the limit ..

but generally unless u OC card further, usually at default setting very hard to achieve such temperature unless u turn down the fan speed on cooler ..
