Original colour is the best looking of a car, after you re spray it, the effect might look different, somore you need to gone through inspection due to colour changing. You didn't save much on it but waste your time and risk your car
*
How about the RV? Will the new buyer know that your car has been resprayed before? They might think that it will be caused by accident and u decided to change your color after that?

Very interesting video to watch but a bit lengthy ...

I got a question, how's the sales for K5? Why i still see more sonata than K5 on the road? Is ppl still lack of confident on this car?

FYI , SONATA this facelift launch at 2010 (dunno which month ) , but Kia K5 only launch & delivery at 2011 Nov or Dec . ard 2 years different and if 1 month sonata got 50 cars sold , means 24 months u can see 1200 sonata more than K5 on the roads . cheers .
*
okok ... don get me wrong, i like this car smile.gif Just feel curious why hardly see the car on the road.

the lesser the better so still can enjoy the exclusivity and keep making people turn heads and wondering what cool car is this hehehe
*
hahaa ... but if we don't see a lot of this cars on the road, it also means that ppl is not buying this car. RV also will be an issue later on. But of course, i know by judging based on what i observed on the road is not enough. Looking at the sales statistic will be more accurate.

guys, just drove down to Singapore from KL... spend about RM100 on petrol and came back with half tank.
was really a comfortable ride and didn't feel tired at all...of course the normal 1 hour wait at the causeway.

was cruising at 180km/h till johor border (took me 1 hr from kl) and car was really stable...but don't really
recommend to drive at this speed

average fuel consumption is 6.4L/100km (for the record) wonderful car to drive for long distance and am
glad i choose a K5 over many other cars out there.
*
is K5 having the speed limit control? or we can activate it and deactivate it ourselves? sry for the noob question sad.gif

Hi. I hope to be joining the club next year.  Holding out on the arrival of the new facelift. Early 2014 hopefully.  Cheers.

QUOTE(bUGG @ Apr 29 2013, 07:49 AM)
If you see carefully, the new facelift wasn't that nice looking compared with the current K5 in Malaysia. The facelift version DRL is on the top of the headlight, foglight become 4 square led, front bumper doen't look nice, inner tail light doesn't align with outer tai light, rear bumper reflector position is too high. Steering lookw awkward with too many button at one side. The only nice thing I see is the slightly enhance centre centre console.
*
Is there any photos to show for the new facelift? and when will it be available in msia?

Are we referring to this? http://paultan.org/2013/03/28/2014-kia-optima-facelift/

If yes, then i think the facelift does look better than the current one smile.gif

Hi All sifu,

just found out that K5 platinum graphite color is not available anymore? According to my understanding it's only available in Theta Engine spec. What's the different between Theta Engine and EU engine? Other than engine difference, are there any difference on other specifications? If let say I am still interested in this platinum graphite colors, any idea where to find them?

Many Thanks!

This is the color i meant.

Info from old thread ---> Some info from wikipedia :

Theta II engine 2.0 MPI :
163 hp (122 kW; 165 PS) at 6,200 rpm
146 lb·ft (198 N·m) of torque at 4,600 rpm
NU Engine with 2.0 MPI, D-CVVT :
164 hp (122 kW; 166 PS) @ 6,500rpm
148 lb·ft (201 N·m) at 4,800rpm
9% lighter than theta II
3% saving on petrol than theta II

PG is a unique colour, somewhere black, purple. My home minister likes it too but i insist on BS

Coz i pay the instalment mah  rolleyes.gif
*
ok ... thanks for the info. But a bit too technical for me. hahaa ... but seems like NU engine is better in FC and more HP. Engine lighter also means the car handling is better?
What is BS? Bright Silver?

Now i got to wait till i go to the naza sales office to test drive and then ask them if really no more PS color. Worse case got to choose white leow.

Actually contacted vincent gor ... he already gave me a lot of info. But probably a bit too busy with his sales these days ... haha ...

Yes, that's Light Graphite, a bit of lilac color, or somewhat purplish... Naza introduced this color sometime back, but it didn't prove very popular and they changed back to Platinum grapphite after that.
*
IM glad that they did that. Haha... platinum graphite... here i cum!

Finally test drive the Kia Optima K5 and also Sportage at the same time. Overall experience is ok but the test unit is ThetaII Euro 3 (according to the salesman). Steering feel a bit hard but according to the salesman, this will be totally different in euro 4 spec coz they are using electrical steering), the button to adjust the audio volume on the steering wheel is making some "eek eek" sound every time i press up and down. And, it's a bit under power. I not sure i am qualified to say this or not since i am driving vios only. But it does felt a bit underpower or probably i am a bit too gentle and dare not press the fuel?

But overall i prefer K5 over sportage. More comfortable ride ... smile.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Hi Bro ... i got this from the first page. Hope this help. But i not sure if the labour charges still remain the same? Based on my understanding, it's RM 80 per working hour?

Nu engine has slightly less HP and torque. But because its a lighter engine, you get marginally less FC. But dont bother about FC figures from the net. The main contributer to FC is your own driving style. U can still get high fuel costs driving an economical car if u drive it hard.

On colors, the silver is the easiest to maintain. U can go without washing for even 3 weeks and u wont notice the difference from afar. But with the white, many of the owners wash twice a week or else very noticeable. Also silver is much easier to match the color if you repaint.
*
Ok bro ... thx for the tips on color. And yes, do agree that BS is the easiest to maintain. But this is personal preference, so i am going for PG (if my loan get approved).

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jun 14 2013, 09:25 AM)
K5 is underpowered because of its heavier body. The torque from the engine is insufficient for a car this heavy. Ull need to use the paddle shifters to get a faster response during acceleration. Thats why Kia has the 2.0L Turbo which wuold be the prefered choice but sadly we dont have it here in Malaysia.

So in town driving, be prepared to spend a bit more for fuel. But on highway, the consumption is really good. Ive managed to drive 1011km with 76L of fuel at 110kmph with 90% highway (7.52L/100km). Driving at 160-170kmph with 80% highway, ive managed to cover 780km with 80.26L of fuel (10.2L/100km). And yes you can fill your fuel tank up to >80L. Ive tried this with many petrol stations.
*
IC. Just wondering, will the Eco Mode function make the car feel a bit under power as well?

Yes your car will become more sluggish. But Eco mode is good in town driving as it makes your gear shifts smoother. I rarely use Eco mode simply because i dont pay for my fuel and im a fast driver anyway.  biggrin.gif
*
hahaa ... it will be the same for me except that i have to pay for my own fuel. I am also a fast driver. LOL!
