Has anybody tested the actual maximum range for 100% highway driving at 110kmph?

Someone in Facebook almost drove 100% at 110kmph. His trip meter clock 801km before he fill up his petrol.
801km only? How far did he push the car before he had to fill?

Mind to share you all Fuel Consumption,Thinking to survey this car more.. thank you^^
I drive frequently outstation and in city so here are my figures. At 110kmph (2250RPM), its about 6.0L/100km. At 160kmph, its about 10.20L/100km.

For 80L in 80% highway at 160-170kmph and remaining 20% in city driving, my max distance travelled was 780km. I was told some tested 100% highway driving at 110kmph and managed to achieve 915km.

For highway driving, the Optima is quite economical but in city driving, it will consume more since its a heavy car. But the biggest contributer to fuel consumption is not these figures but the way u drive. Most ppl think they are driving economically but actually they arent. So dont worry too much about FC. Improve your driving habits and ull be able to get good mileage.

Full tank of Shell RON95 petrol, travel from Puchong to Batu Ferringhi, Penang and to Puchong back....total 760km....still got 2bars left at the indicator(can go another 110km)....maintained car speed not exceeding 120km/h.
Some bros here got better mileage I guess.
The Distance to Empty (DTE) readings are only indicative. It drops faster if ure driving un-economically and drops much slower in economical driving. If ure driving at constant 110kmph, the 1 DTE kilometer actually represents 2.0km. Meaning, if ure driving at 110kmph and your DTE shows 110km then u can probably drive another 200km or so.

The fuel warning in the Optima is actually 4 stage:

1) DTE goes blank (less than 50km indicative range)
2) Low fuel light comes on when you have 2 bars left (depending on driving style)
3) 2nd bar disappears and only 1 bar remains
4) Last bar starts blinking (you can drive another 20km before you must fill)

My mileage is now 15,000 since collecting the car end April.

I also noticed something about the cruise control. If u set the cruise at 110kmph, your FC is ok. But if u set at around 150kmph above, then your fuel consumption is really increases as the car will try to maintain the speed so always downshift to 5th gear. So my advice if you wanna maintain high speed, dont use the cruise.

Thanks for the advice bro...normally i will refuel when there is 2bars left....no courage to go beyond that.
Bro, your fuel tank capacity can go up to 80.25L and that was almost empty. So balance of 2 bars, u can travel from Damansara tol to at least Tapah at 110kmph. Ive tested it before.

My low fuel light comes on when I have 1 bar left only.
Yes its dependant on your driving style. If ure driving hard, then the low fuel light comes on faster.

Bro, I use RON95 for daily usage on heavy traffic roads and RON97 on long highway journey.
If I am not going for long highway journey, then RON95 for first 3x and then RON97 for 1x. Follow that cycle.
Bro, its actually a waste using Ron97. Using a higher grade fuel when the car only needs a lower grade doesnt give you much advantage. Maybe a slight advantage in a slightly cleaner engine but still not worth the RM3/L price tag. Plus, using a higher grade fuel would make more sense during city driving as the engine is under more stress in start stop traffic as compared to a constant speed rev on highway drives.

In my previous Vios, i used Ron 97 for a some time until i had to change to Ron95 in 2010 on instruction by my company. I didnt feel any difference and the engine and acceleration was the same.

If you are really particular, then maybe give yourself a full tank of Ron 97 once every 3 months just to clean out the engine. But seriously, i wouldnt waste money on pumping Ron97 that often.

Any bros replaced the stock rims to 17" rims ? Any comments on the fuel consumption & car performance after the replacement ?
FC is more dependant on your driving style. I dont think a 1" smaller rim will make a huge difference. The tyre choice would.

Agree with you that no much difference in power between both fuel.
I am using RON97 for the purpose of cleaning the engine only.
On long highway journey, you will get better mileage with RON97.
The slightly better mileage (if any) will be easily obscured by the much higher cost of the Ron 97 fuel.

i think cm98 means that the price of ron97 at rm3/ltr is expensive, not worth the daily use. but i think occasionally use ron97 for cleaning or some even recommend pump 2/3 tank ron 95, then 1/3 ron97 for each full tank pump is advisable. Ron 97 has higher combustion rate, hence cleaner burning. Long term, less carbon formation at burning chamber. How bad is ron95, cant tell.
No. Using a higher octane fuel will not make much difference to internal carbon formation. Like i said earlier, its actually a waste to use high octane fuel when your car only needs a lower grade. You wont get much difference in mileage or engine performance. The truth is that every grade of fuel has cleaning agents. Too much cleaning agents, some say, can actually damage your car.

Octane is a measure of how much the fuel can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites. Only engines with higher compression ratios take advantage of higher octane gas.

Bro, in Jan 2013, this car would be in its 3rd year already. 10% is too damn low.

Yes, don't have a/c unit. That's why RM 5000 discount, REdcube
Is that discount offer for currently available 2011 units? If thats the case, then RM5K is pathetic considering that the car would be in its 3rd year by 1 Jan 2013.
