Another wasting time thread at another side.. Haiz.
What they did was PM each other and get them all to say the same thing over n over again on all threads. That fool couldnt stand and fight on his own so he had to get back up. But pity, he got another bunch of losers. So funny these fools. I just laugh at the kind of low mentality posts that im reading from them. And the more they post, the more its evident that they feel really threatened and inferior. Most of them not all. rclxms.gif

Dear all K5 owner,

Can somebody share any problem they faced with the K5 so far..? Like engine, electronic parts, suspension and some others things? Appreciated for all sharing bcoz i'm planning to get 1 Bright Silver soon.. tongue.gif
For me i faced some jumpy steering issue but i guess thats just the way the car is. Not really a problem or defect. But to try and solve this 'issue', Naza Kia offered to replace both my rear shock absorbers FOC. But no difference cuz like i said before, its not really a defect. But my current problem is the stale smell for about 5 secs from the aircon when u switch it on during a cold start. But Naza Kia have now ordered a replacement aircon filter just to see if it solves the problem. Ive also faced the vibrating wiper issue for some time. Naza has now odered a replacement wiper arm & new blades for me although wipers are not covered under warranty. Naza Kia also replaced both my front fog lamps FOC when the plastic cover became bent on 1 side. Again not really their fault but they still replaced out of goodwill. No issues since then.

So far Naza Kia have been very good with the after sales service and warranty claims. But they need to reduce the lead time of replacement parts which is too long now.

I just did my 10,000km 2nd service last week and it cost me about RM280 inclusive fully syn oil, filter, allignment, balancing and wash.

i think the standard cabin air filter is normal white? coz i saw k5 cabin air filter with carbon element at ebay ~usd 12. Maybe that can solve ur stale smell.

i have tried the "set air circulation" as per bUGG tips at 1st page. But during driving, the cabin circulation will still change. Anyone knows why? CO2 content in cabin?
U have to take it back to Kia and they will set it for you. They did the same with mine. Now its fine. The smell is not from outside air since the outside air vent has now been blocked off completely. Its probably coming from mold.

Does the jumpy steering wheel problem occur at all speeds? or is it just at high speeds?

When i was test driving the K5 last week, I noticed that it was pulling slightly to the left.
The pulling effect can be easily resolved with a free allignment by Kia. I did the same for mine in the first week after purchase and its fine since.

The jumpy steering actually happens when u go over bumps and your steering 'jumps'. Can happen at any speed but on high speed highway drives, it does melt some of your confidence when it 'jumps' while ure going over rough uneven roads while taking corners at 150kmph.

QUOTE(funnybone @ Aug 22 2012, 10:45 AM)
I'm not a fan of korean cars but this K5 is giving me the chills. It look awesome and frankly am thinking of getting it. Me driving a Honday City at the moment. It will be a big shift for me from a JP car to a KR car. Would like to enquire:

1) Dependable meaning at least no problem to start up and run?
2) Any nagging issues for first 6 mths?
3) Fuel consumption is not entirely and issue but would like to ask as well..
4) Cost of servicing at what value for normal service?

BTW...how to enter the red cube KIA showroom at Federal Highway. Coming from KL direction.
I believe that will be the showroom and service center as well.
So far its good but then again all the cars are still new so difficult to rate dependability this early. I dont think there are many who have reached the 6 months ownership mark yet. I got mine end April 2012 only and so far i would say im very satisfied with the quality. Fyi, i was a Toyota owner for 9 years before i switched so it was a 'big' move for me phychologically.

I drive alot and so far my FC figures (100% highway) at 110kmph is about 6.0L/100km. At 160kmph its about 10.20L/100km. So a full tank of fuel (approx 70L) should be able to get you 1000km+ range if ure travelling at a constant 110kmph but not sure if its achievable in real life though.

I dont have 100% city driving info as im on the highway more often than in town driving but i wouldnt expect good FC figures for town driving. U need to remember that the Optima is a heavy car and its 163Hp, 198Nm torque is not really sufficient for a car of this weight. Fuel tank capacity (as stated in the manual) is approx 70L but the max ive filled is 80.26L.

Servicing costs are minimal now since we have the 3 free services and the car is also new so no wear & tear. First & second service was about RM 280 each using fully synthetic engine oil. Normal periodic servicing for most cars will be low but the difference is when you have to start replacing wear & tear parts. This is when u can get a good idea of your costs. So till then its kinda pointless to ask as everybody's info will indicate marginal costs.

But for RM 143K+, the Optima is a decent car with really good specs, safety features, safety standards, design, interior space and a 5 year unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty (not 3+2). But performance wise, ull get a better experience with VW and some Jap makes but with an extra premium on the price as well.

But do test out other makes e.g Camry, Teana, Passat, etc so that ull have a wider field of comparison and ull be able to better appreciate certain aspects of the car. Do give importance to value for money and safety among other aspects. But bear in mind, there is no such thing as a perfect car and each car will have its pro's and con's.

My wiper work quite smart, try pull the rain sensor speed to 2nd bar from top.
But the whole concept is wrong in my opinion. The first drop of the stick should be for the intermittent wiper where the driver can manually select whatever speed he wants for the wipes. But in this case, we dont have that choice as the first drop is also the auto which makes the intermittent redundant.

QUOTE(JuneSeptember @ Aug 23 2012, 02:26 PM)
Comrades, I've got a few problems with my car, which the SC said are common among K5s, do you have such problems?

1) the lumbar support mechanism has free play, meaning when I accelerate and decelerate, i can feel and hear a "cluck" sound from the seat, SC said it's common. My lumbar support is just lightly adjusted, around 10-20% from the off position.
2) the rear view mirror has poor quality plastics, it makes cracking noise when you squeeze it lightly or when the interior is cooling down from the hot sun. SC said it is common.
3) and off course there're the funny noises from all over the cabin

SC told me it's normal, just accept it. I disagree loh, this is not Proton, so I hope they don't treat their customers the Proton way. Btw, i'm not being overly fussy, ironically, the Rondo that they loaned me for two weeks didn't have all these annoying noises.

I'm planning to escalate my complaints and ensure that these problems are rectified.
Sorry to hear but my Optima had no such problems as well.

Its important for you to isolate the problem and identify the source of the noises if possible. But dont forget that creaks and small vibrations in the cabin are not covered under warranty for most car manufacturers. Such noises also occur in other makes so dont be disheartened.

7) Loud and lousy windscreen wipers that didn't work in rain - SC totally ignored, hell, i think i'll get myself a pair of silicon wipers
Kia is replacing the wipers and also the wiper arms for me FOC. U can do the same. Just push them.

You got it replaced, so did it solve the problem? I think you mentioned before it's still the same
First they replaced the wiper blades alone but it was a different type. So now they have ordered the original wiper blade and arms as well. Yet to arrive. So for now, im still using the current set of wipers. But they told me they can try and get for me from an existing Optima first and then replace that when my set arrives.

Warranty for 5 yrs... The interior is to prevent early fadin of the color, and reduce the watermark if at all water was left to dry on dash instead of wiped off... And I heard the other thing is reduce the stainin of the leather.. This is wat I know so far...
Well in my opinion, you dont need any quoting for the interior. Nobody actually leaves water on the dashboard anyway and the interior of the car is dark coloured so upkeep is minimal. Havent heard of any dark interiors fading before. I had a light coloured car interior for the past 9 years and it was still in good condition when i sold it. U just need to be a bit careful not to leave any marks anywhere.

Overall i think its too expensive. Ure better off with the Sierra Glow with the same 5 years warranty for only RM700. I too had some reservations about paying so little when other similar products are RM2K+. But after 4 months of usage i can say that im quite satisfied with Sierra Glow. Cleaning is minimal and very easy to wipe off. Many of us here who have used SG are quite satisfied as well. I dont know if it will last 5 years but even if it lasts 2 yrs its still well worth the very low price.

But the reason y I want to do interior coating as well, cause I know that sport age and k5 shares the same drivers seat and front passenger seat, and if u look carefully, the rear of the front seats are mainly covered by a plastic board, and I saw one of my friend's sportage one yr down the ownership, tat plastic board already got quite a few scratches by some of his friends sitting at the back... Have anyone of u experiencing this problem?
Bro, coatings wont protect any surface against physical impact. U just have to take extra care.

May I know where did u get this message from? I hav asked at least 2 3S NASA Kia showroom, both told me they hav not received any memo regarding this...

Anyway, I want to know when will It become CKD and when and how much would the price be?
Of course no memo yet la bro. He is quoting insider information. Once memo comes out it will be official. But Optima being CKD is expected. Same like Forte and Sportage. They have to do it in order to cope with orders and boost sales. Once delivery is delayed more than 2 months, your chances of confirming the sale is less.

Congrats! Welcome to the family! Just be careful when parking. U need to get used to the reverse camera and gauging the front space. Will take alot of effort but the rule is never take risks. If ure not sure get out of the car and check. Even 2cm can result in a deep gash to your front fender.

Thanks bro, for the advice. It was a little overwhelming when I first got behind the wheel. The seat is very low and couldnt see much of the bonnet. I'm so used to my Naza Ria where I have a very commanding view of everything. The K5 should have come with a front camera  hmm.gif

Got a little more comfortable after driving it for a while. Really looking forward to many, many hours of driving pleasure.  biggrin.gif
Well no matter how high u adjust, u will never see the front. So dont adjust it too high. Just train yourself to judge distances better. I too was overwhelmed the 1st time. I had to get 3 of my friends to become lookouts when i got stuck in a tight spot. But now, im quite an expert with parking already. Reverse parking is the easiest option now with the reverse camera which is quite accurate. Plus the side view mirrors are quite good as the number of blind spots have been reduced drastically compared to previous Kia models.
