When new generation of Optima is launched, previous one is discontinued, naturally. The only time, where Kia had an overlapping of models was probably during the tail-end sales of Forte, when Cerato was launched, but even then , it was only for a short period of a few months.

I own a K5, it's about 2+ years old now and lately there's a slight clicking sound whenever I press/ depress the brakes at low speed and the sound seems to be coming from the gear shifter area.

Has anyone had a similar problem? My brakes work fine, no issue at all - it's just this weird clicking noise when I press/ depress the brake at low speeds.

Anyone?

K5 is certainly a good looking car. Very comfortable & good features. Pretty decent handling too.

The one thing it lacks is sufficient power. It is seriously underpowered. This is very evident when paddle is floored. The engine has a thundering roar and struggles when overtaking. IMO this an be dangerous. Even if you are a patient driver, there isn't any reserve power to get you out of a potentially tight or dangerous situation.

If you must have NA, consider Sonata 2.4. Slightly better engine to get you out of dangerous situations. Remember you can be a very diligent & safe driver, don't expect this from everyone on the road.

I think it is the same for all 2.0L D-segment cars like Camry, Accord, Sonata and Mazda 6. You just have to learn to drive safely with the available power like planning your overtaking and lane changes carefully. They are still quite driveable if you are not in a big hurry. Don't floor the pedal, work the pedal within the limit of the engine and you will get a better response.
