QUOTE(Xerixe @ May 19 2017, 10:49 AM)
Hi sifus, I'm planning to buy a used optima 2015.
I called Naza and they said the warranty won't be valid as the car missed 2 services.

But the used car dealer say it will be valid and that's what service agents will tell you. He also said he's a kia dealer and the warranty is valid.

Should I go ahead with this car?
*
I bought mine new. Tore up the "warranty" upon receipt of the car. You should see the dealers face. I didnt even use the "free" servicing.

It's meaningless when its filled with so many conditions.

"Warranties" are designed to tie you to the SC and make you a cash cow to the company, so that they can skim (some say scam) as much as possible from you during "warranty" period.

Even if you follow the conditions, sometimes they will still not honor their "warranty".

A couple of years back a VW owner had the shock of his life when he was quoted 50k+ by the sc just for one measly wire harness, which had failed after being apparently gnawed by rats.

To the owner's consternation, this kind of damage is not covered by their "warranty".

Caveat emptor!

Gnawed by rat not 1under manufacturer warranty le biggrin.gif that's on own accountability. Fakap happens. Usually those warranties are related to manufacturing defects, premature defects on regular usage. E.g wiring harness melt, gearbox premature failure, ac compressor spoil, etc. If upgrade 15inch rims to 18inch later suspension nyek nyek due to larger rims and harsher ride is definitely not covered by warranty. It is out of spec, and the damping rate tuned for comfort cant handle harsher ride. SC can say many things to void your warranty while consumer always find a way to modify their car to a certain extent without voiding the warranty biggrin.gif

Nobody bought the Optima GT turbo or thinking of buying it? Seems like no interest in this thread at all. Has Naza gone too far with the pricing this time?

Naza brought in only 25 units. I think more of a market test, I don't think they expect to move too much. At this price, even despite the specs, there's quite a bit of competition, from the brand perspective alone...

For price to power ratio not much competition in the market now. Maybe only the Volvo V40 T5 at rm181K can compare. Passat 2.0 TSI is rm25K more. Others like C200 320i are way more expensive. I would have expected more interest but maybe the price doesn't match brand perception.

If you compare the price alone, yes v40 is the closest competitor but it is a segment lower.

At rm180k for a d-segment, its kind of lonely for its spec. Its a great car, but uncles will not be attracted, too expensive for young chaps.

I wanna buy it but nobody solve my problem and being ignored. Besides, I am waiting for a right price to sell off my old KIA.

I thought it may attract uncles who normally go for Camrys and Accords with the seductive lure or more power? A worthwhile buy for its power and interior quality. It could be that some time is necessary for the market to get used to this price for a Korean car.

What problems? The right time to sell is always now. The longer you wait the more it depreciates. If you are not getting any interest it could be you set the price too high.

Trade in price is based on dealers' buying price. To establish a fair price for direct sales look for dealers' selling price in online ads. Split the difference between the selling and buying price between direct buyer and seller. So seller gets dealer buying price plus the difference and buyer gets dealer selling price minus the difference. In a direct sale both parties should benefit compared to dealing with dealer. You can't expect to sell direct at the same price as a dealer as buyers are also looking to save money by buying direct.

New model launches for KIA usually exhibit slow take up rate in the early months. It takes time for interest to build up, perhaps people want to see more cars on the Malaysian road first and hear feedback from the pioneers before taking the plunge. If you consider the specs vs the price (like any product review), it should command a high rating.

Secondly, I think the exterior design of the car is not much of a drastic change to that of the predecessor, so people are not completely aware of it. Hope that will change in the months to come, when Kia Malaysia goes more aggressive on marketing the car.

Yes, you have a point. However, if the price difference is not very significant, new buyers would rather buy from used car dealers because of the following factors:-

1) The cars have been re-conditioned with new coat of paint, dents/chips repaired, seat cushion cleaned or/and sometimes accessorized with body kit etc
Not to mention the cost of such repairs and refurbishments are lower for used car dealers as they have economies of scale.
2) Ease of financing as used car dealers have the contact and know how to push for the loan approvals, especially for borderline cases. Most banks prefer not to do direct financing as they want tax invoice from an intermediary trading company.
3) Some used car dealers may provide short term warranty, especially on the engine and gear box, which adds to the confidence factor.
4) Basically, the used cars at used car outlets look more impressive during viewing, properly cleaned up and look like new.

Of course, if the price differs greatly, then yes, buyers may be enticed to buy direct, otherwise, used-car dealers is still the preferred source.

Is the Optima GT sold here with the 10 speakers Infinity system? Or did Naza rip it out and replaced it with a 4 speakers no name system?
