Portfolio will take a hard knock... S&P down 2%, KLCI -2.5%, and small caps -4.7%. Hang Seng -2.6%

Selling opportunity had went out of the window... buying opportunity?

OMG! Did I set off any alarms? Don't panic... above drops were due to distribution. blush.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

(To see the actual drop, look into the Performance Chart and put in these dates for the actual growth rate: 28/11 - 1/12. It should be updated either today or tomorrow.)

my pool of fresh epf money already empty... can only sit and watch. blush.gif

The drop is not deep enough to switch out old funds in mm... my strategy smallcap fund - all switch in this year - average -4%.

Still okay... till I feel a bit panic with deeper lost... then do reverse to emotion - switching in, not switching out. smile.gif

Most of the local funds in PM offerings are invested locally in:

O&G sector: 4-year low price at around USD 65 (WTI)
Weak MYR affects banking sector: 5- year low since 1997 Asian Financial Crisis (@ 3.4XXX per USD)

hi there,

appreciate some advice from all the seasoned investors here.

I am currently holding PSBF and PEBF for a long time. And from my calculation, PEBF has performed better than PSBF over the past few years, please correct me if I am wrong.

My question is, should I liquidate one of them (especially PSBF) and just go into FD since the rate difference is not much between the two?

Oh and also, do you think that now is a good time to be in cash (FD) rather than bonds due to the economic situation?

Thanks!

PEBF will usually outperform PSBF because it can invest into equities and has higher volatility than PSBF.

PSBF is a pure bond fund.

Yes that is indeed what I realized from my calculations.

Do you think taking it out and putting it into FD is good now rather than leaving it in there?

If the return is on par with FD, then just leave it there.

Local bond fund has been less attractive lately due to recent hike in OPR and also expected another hike in near term.

Anyone tracks China-link equity funds such PRSEC and PCSF? The returns from these sorts of funds are pathetic (less than 10%) compares to if we were to buy the China equities directly (>25%).. Fyi Shanghai SSE has risen from 2200+ to 2750+ for the last 12 months.

I plan to dispose all my holdings with KLMF as I see negative values from them.

I invested RM150 000 in PISSF. Today badly hit by downtrend unit price mainly due to :

1. Dividend distribution. Announce on 28/11, today distributed. Of course la everyone withdraw their funds.
2. Weak ringgit/USD

My takes? Buy more units! Cheaper!

Hi guys, what's the difference (pros & cons) of using public mutual online to sell & buy another fund by ways below :

1) sell old fund (repurchase request), direct credit money into PB acct, then buy new fund (initial invest) using money from PB acct.

2) switching request (direct switch funds)

Is it No.2) better, because No.1) will incur service charge from consultant ?

While No.2) is free of charge, if not sold under 90days ?

Thanks!

(2) will have RM 25 switching fee also. The pros is if you're switching from equity to another equity fund no SC will be imposed compared to (1).

For details, please refer to the switching matrix in the master prospectus.

Thanks!

What about switching from bond fund to cash deposit fund ?

Is it better to use switching or sell & repurchase ?

Repurchase will incur another round of SC for equity or bond fund.

RM 25 will be imposed as well. No SC will be charged for MMF.
