if you are in Malaysia, the anti-static bracelet is not a must. You just need to touch some earthen metal from time to time to discharge any built up static electricity especially before touching any sensitive circuit board.

Few things you'll need to prepare before starting:
1. Philips screwdriver, one of it must be a small and long neck type for the keyboard screw removal.
2. Some small cup/container for screws. There are gonna be a lot of screws you'll need to remove. You'll need to separate them into cup for easy identification when you reassemble your laptop.
3. Air conditioning room for sweat will be a major concern.
4. Another operational laptop or desktop for displaying the manual on how to dismantle your DV6 laptop.
5. Cleaning equipment for the fan cleaning.
6. A spare thermal paste.
7. A thin piece of strong metal like nail file for used to separate the parts that were tightly assembled.
8. A camera phone to take picture when thing turns complicated.

has anyone ever experienced during boot , there is messages saying your fan has stopped working and encourage u to the to hp/go/tech center / startup ? how do u tackle this problem ?

I have a HP dv6-6b06eg and I am having a problem with my USB Ports. Sometimes they wont work. Especially the 3.0 ones. At home I am using all ports and they usually work, but when I am using my notebook on the go they sometimes dont recognize my Hdd or phone or something else I am connecting. They dont even have power. I tested it with battery or AC and nothing works.

The USB suspended mode in the energy settings is deactivated for AC and battery.

It seems like a software error.

By the way I am using Windows 7

last nite suddenly shutdown...when try to turn on again...it won't start....after a while, manage to turn on...but it shows below error...

^ the sytem fan is spinning or not? if not better send to service center.

Seems like this month have a lot of HP's user having fan problem. Just check out their forum and saw 2 new registered users also having the same problems.
