Just want to share a song and video on the feeling of those who has ever disassembled their DV6 for cleaning or to reapply thermal paste before. The disassembling of the DV5 in the video looks similar to our DV6. LOL

HP Cool Sense require HP Support Assistant to work. Try download HP Support Assistant dan install it. Careful, as sometimes the new version HP Support Assistant doesn't work as it intended to be.

I plan to take apart my laptop in the nearest future to clean out the fans. is it okay if i do it without any anti-static bracelet or stuff? How did you guys do it? hmm.gif
*
if you are in Malaysia, the anti-static bracelet is not a must. You just need to touch some earthen metal from time to time to discharge any built up static electricity especially before touching any sensitive circuit board.

Few things you'll need to prepare before starting:
1. Philips screwdriver, one of it must be a small and long neck type for the keyboard screw removal.
2. Some small cup/container for screws. There are gonna be a lot of screws you'll need to remove. You'll need to separate them into cup for easy identification when you reassemble your laptop.
3. Air conditioning room for sweat will be a major concern.
4. Another operational laptop or desktop for displaying the manual on how to dismantle your DV6 laptop.
5. Cleaning equipment for the fan cleaning.
6. A spare thermal paste.
7. A thin piece of strong metal like nail file for used to separate the parts that were tightly assembled.
8. A camera phone to take picture when thing turns complicated.

Good luck.

Mine can run at 1600Mhz, but it could be due to the processor.

It's time for mine to claim warranty as suddenly my laptop can't start. Suspected either the power adapter or motherboard.

Can hear faint beeping sound coming from the power brick? If no sound at all usually power brick problem.

There is ticking sound on the adapter. So far there is no respond from either using adapter or battery. I suspect some capacitor or power mosfet got damaged.
Luckily still have warranty until early June.

Just send my laptop for warranty today. Overall experience at the service center is good. The customer service is well organized.

Keeping my finger cross until I receive back my baby, most probably with it's motherboard exchanged.

Hi Guys, It had been almost 3 years since I bought dv6-6001tx.

The only problem i'd faced so far were faulty CPU fan and malfunctioning HP Cool Sense once i updated HPSA software.

My warranty gonna end on this month 24th May 2014. I think i will send my laptop for free maintenance before my warranty expired smile.gif

Do bring a earphone to check the sound connector when you're gonna bring it back. I was having problem with the sound port connector until I have to update to a new driver, then the problem is gone.

Hi guys I'm in need of help here..

I suspect that my 6001tx ati's is fried after I had a freeze during gaming. It BSOD every time I switch to Ati. Tried re-installing the driver. It BSOD again upon entering windows after installing Ati driver. Had no problem installing the Intel graphic driver.

Right now im still able to use it by using the Intel graphic. But the laptop runs as if the Ati graphic is used as the fan spins very loud, the left palm rest is hot and the fully charged battery goes empty in 40 minutes.

Is there any way I can properly shut off the Ati graphic card? icon_question.gif

You can try to disable it in the device manager. Right click on the Radeon ™ HDb6770M under the Display Adapter tree.
Before that, you sure you install the right driver?

It's a button battery, CR2032. Don't know what you mean with two/three pinned.

anyone having problem usb 3.0 transfer rate around 1mb to 3mb

USB 3.0 is using a specific driver depends on the controller used. Try to reinstall the driver for your laptop.

Hi, I am DV6-6001TX user and plan to install fresh window 7 to a fresh ssd. I have problem with HP driver download page where it keep loading after I select 64bit version but not giving any download links. Is there alternative link to download drivers for this laptop? Also what are the essential drivers that I really need here? Thanks.
*
DO you still have the SWSetup folder in your old Hard Disk. Most of the driver is inside there.

Yes they still in the folder. But the naming is not descriptive. Should I copy all and install all?
*
Some, you will know when you open the folder while other is named SP5XXXX. For those with the code SP5XXXX, you can always use Google to find out what driver is that.

About which one to install, I'm not the right person to tell you as I normally will install everything they came with unless it's causing problems.

Edit: BTW, just copy all first and then decide which one you want to install, since the website don't display the drivers anymore...
