The costs of living in KL/Selangor is higher. For those who have to rent a place to live is more hard to survived.

hmm yheah can be accepted... but seriously now im in melaka, salary less RM800 than when i work in KL but wht to do, need to stay wif family lol

hmm.. can anyone expedite what would my salary range would be holding a degree with 18 + months of experience in advertising related industry.

i work with banner, flyers, n.cardm brochure, booklet, billboard, signage, plates, sticker, cutting sticker, gifts, standee, exhibition 3D booth truss/carpenter. and so on.

i mean what kind of position can i applied directly to? executive kind of thing?

i think if u in melaka, nothing much to be xpected...maybe as designer in advertising shop? salary RM1k+- i think...
but in KL should be around RM15xx+- my 2 cents

Design is very subjective, so does salary. Most employers refer to your last drawn salary. A good employer usually compare your design skills and work with their previous or existing designer in the company. They will then decide if your requested salary is worth giving to you.

Is this adequate enough? Have been working as a Graphic designer before this at my previous job. But got a Junior job here because already have 2 designers. It's been 3 years. Still not bumped to senior designer.

Now : Self-employed, partner with marketing firms and do other freelancing jobs; income can easily reach more than 10k per month...

I feel that how many years a designer worked is not relevant. A designer who can design packaging, advertisements, brochures and etc, for 3 years is much better than a designer who only does logo design and page layout for 5 years.

Just my opinion, a senior designer should have at least more than 5 years working experience who can manage a design job from concept to execution of finish artwork (FA). Now days I see some companies trying to hire senior graphic designers with just only 1-3 years experience. I think this is their way to lure in fresh designers who wants to have the "Senior Designer" title with mostly not more than 2.5k - 3k salary.

her last salary as an in-house designer before resigned was only 3.7k (6 months ago i think)....then she worked freelance, income can reach more than 10k, way higher than my salary as a business consultant =.=" she has never turned back since...

Well my work ranges from the types above to FA even though i havent reach 5 years at my current. I'm not actually gunning for the title per se. What i meant whas at my current company, the title bumps you the money. If i'm getting more that means my title will change. Yeah,i know right? My exp for 3 companies till now is already getting to 6 years. Worked at an ad studio first, then at a production company (printers) and now to an in house company. So i dont only know about FA, i also have the exp to execute the output form. IMHO, doesn't our design culture should also value and pay their designers for the quality / style / professionality of their work and their artworks? That's what makes our design industry a bit different from other common jobs is it? And i think that is the beauty of it also. How about you? Sorry if i am wrong. It's just my opinion on the matter.

It's quite hard to find a design company that rewards innovative and creativity. Perhaps in the 4A's ad agencies that often submit for kancil awards. Our design culture is most probably work like an elephant pay like peanuts.

Current salary maybe not much but in my hometown, that is MUCH better than getting RM3.5K living in KL ..plus I still can go for freelance photography..

you guys are paid quite well O_O so far i see most of the freshgrades only got 1.8k for that.

u lucky if u in KL/selangor...in melaka or other states, only 1k-1.3k lolz

RM400 less than previous employment to have a work life balance.

oh its ur own company though...so u can earn even 100k salary/m if u work hard haha
