as long as you know u r using G3 or G4 then it is save, that is either use the G3 or G4 installer.

Step 1 have the 2.20 rom, you could just update with step 1 with the latest WM5 rom or proceed to step 2 for the WM6.

I have tested the SmartMovie, seem like it is not working:

when i try to play the demo.avi, error msg : No codec for video format "XVID"

Just to be sure of my installation:

Installed SmartMovie.cab and the CoreMp4.cab to my storage, any file i'm missing?

I'm on G3. So to say, if (touchwood), my upgrade to WM6 failed, I just use the dloaded 2.20 rom as a backup, aight?

yeap. those are the two files to install only. The smartmovie.cab is the player while the coremp4.cab is the XVID codec...

Aniwae, i'll send u another XVID player file. thatz software include the XVID codec. Maybe u wanna try it.

u have to install smart movie first bro,then baru the coremp4.cab.u jus try to install the core codec again.that error came out when the dopod cant access the coremp4 u installed.
my rom is 2.15,bro,that means i have to upgrade first rite?i've been 'bertapa' at xda-developers since morning,seems that currently viet is the best.
one mo thing bro,when in wm6,is the registry still the same?i saw a bunch of tweak to upgrade the pda speed,hope i can use that at wm6.

ya i did installed the snartmovie cab 1st then follow by the codec. have already try reinstall the codec but still not lucky.

it is true, if by any bad luck you fial to flash the WM6 you could use the 2.20 rom ( step 1), just make sure you know how to boot into boot loader ( red, blue green ... screen) then repeat step 1 and u done.

WM6 got bluetooth issue? not with this rom, have tested with bluetooth (headset), wifi ( need to tap twice to activate ), IR with noproblem.

try install the coremp4 in storage bro,not storage card.i also encounter same problem last nite,but,after install 1,2 time its ok.when u install 2nd time,u cant install from the active sync add remove program bro.it jus wont install.u have to run the original downloaded installation file.

i will study about the 2.2 bro.btw,u get all the files from xda developers?

WM6 is still new, so there's for sure some incompatible appz... all u have to do is to backup ur contacts and important data before u attempt to install some software. so if x ngam, then can hard reset mar. hard reset must be done when soft reset do not solve the problem.

by thw way wat is so special about the smartmovie? it only could read avi format whereas the tcmcp i'm using now could read avi and mp4 as well??? any idea??

The PDAVIET is comes with X-button and Omapclock for you to overclock to watever speed u want. i have try 240 in coupes of day and now back to 195 as WM6 is really fast compare to WM5.

ya the PDAVIET rom is from xda-developer as stated at my 1st post. me not that powerfull design rom.

i need high bitrate videos run smooth at 23 to 29 frame per second.

what is x-button?

as for wm5,after use omap to overclock,after the pda turn off,the clock speed will switch back to its original state.how about wm6 bro?

i do not know the different between TCMCP, but for smartmovie, they come with a converter which can be used to convert the avi file so that itz suitable to playback in the pda. Been using it for quite a while.

So, imagine, I'm watching csi: miami and each episodes is abt 3xxkb. Smartmovie converter actually converts into smaller size and the file size is less than 50kb each and the quality of the avi is not compromise.

Hope u get wat i mean.

X-Button is kinda a add-in where it program the "X" button on the right side of the bar to close the appz instead of minimizing it into the background thus free up memory. However, now in WM5, each appz i open and closed will lose 1mb. Dunno y. need to restart the pda once the memory dropped to 17mb.

I use Pocket Hack to overclock. I finds it more secure.

dun worry abt X button... It will pre-installed if u're going for the PDAViet WM6 rom supplied by uk19xx bro. Wish u luck... Me tonite still no time to upgrade lar...

The file format before conversion is avi and after conversion is avi too. I normally converts 2 episodes at once and I do it before I go to sleep. So, when I wakes up, I just let it copy to my PDA while I prepare for work... hehehe

My settings are as below:
Video:
-Codec: XviD Encoder
-Bitrate: 112kbps
-Screen Size: 240x192

Audio:
-Frequency: 16000Hz
-Force Mono: On
-Bitrate: 40kbps
-Volume Boost: 200%

I'm still testing for the best output but then, due to time constraint, I'm just being contented with the default settings. However, the audio is not loud enough with the above settings.

lol... understand from uk19xx from his previous post that omap is also included in the the ROM. So, there shud be nothing to worry abt.

Aniwae, as I've mentioned, those are default settings from the converter and I really has no free time to meddle with it at the moment. So, i'm just living with it now. Moreover, these video is just for some boring moments. I dun really watch them. I normally watch it at home with the desktop. Furthermore, storage space limitations don't allow me for such luxury. hehehe

You still on WM5 or already upgrade to WM6?
