QUOTE(seba @ Oct 31 2014, 06:26 PM) QUOTE(Agito666 @ Nov 3 2014, 11:05 AM) Chill guys, I do get both of your points in the way of commenting others' work. I'm not offended or any of the sort by the way Agito666 commented on my artwork. True, it is digital, and it's faster to show the corrections in edited pic (liquify etc.) than redraw the base pose on top of it. Heck, I'm impressed with DragonReine going out of her way to correct seba's artwork. In the end, what really matters is if the person who's been corrected, learned from his mistakes. No point arguing ethics and stuffs if I couldn't fix my own mistakes, lol. Anyway, I've edited the artwork and (probably) fixed the pose. p/s: hard to accept Agito666 fix at first, but he's right. And I don't mind taking critique as long as it has strong basis. Also a lot faster to learn/fix for me if I could spot my mistake pointed firsthand. |

QUOTE(seba @ Nov 11 2014, 02:33 AM) Looking at the "BEST OF DIGITAL ART", I have already thought this is not my game, honestly I'm hardly impressed by fine arts, maybe it is not technically superior to illustration type of arts or concept arts, no real skills involved. ![]() I mean look at that, just give people the impression that you intended something deep (although you just flying about your brush thoughtless) and you are good to go! QUOTE(DragonReine @ Nov 11 2014, 06:55 AM) yeahhhhh that's the thing about fine arts sometimes, needs to be "deep" and "meaningful". I, on the other hand, just say "f--k it" and draw porn. So eh. |

QUOTE(DragonReine @ Nov 12 2014, 12:05 AM) Oh, I really dislike how plebs (non-artist people) consider what is "fine art". I believe that illustrations can be fine art and vice versa. Heck, all those classical paintings people like to rave about in museums, like da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" and Rembrandt's "Night Watch" and the like? They're all technically paid commissions/illustrations. Even in the terms and conditions, they only define "professional" as this: UHM. THAT MEANS PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS WORKING IN THE CONCEPT ART INDUSTRY CAN JOIN, RIGHT? As long as they haven't had any kind of art gallery or museum display Seems like people who stay anonymous with pen name can submit whatever they want. Then, it really is meaningless to state the "professional" thing there and just go with unpublished artist. Heck, I've seen the same people with different publisher/manager contribute in such competition after being told by my friend who's helping with some gallery. Dunno which one to blame, artist or their manager...or the sponsor. But I dunno if concept artist also included...if so then manga artist or freelance Street illustrator who got pro title also can't join. |

For me, I hate doing the same thing over and over again, so I tend to make less and lesser construction line and immediately merge them into main layer. The other way around is create overall construction line and paint over them just like traditional painting, but in manga style.
But I do admire messy line work by [CHOCOLATE WORKS] or CHOCO in his IS works. He then redraw over them again and again until he satisfied with the final pose. ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by drpsyko: Nov 24 2014, 11:28 AM |

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Nov 24 2014, 01:53 PM) up to people one, some need many sketch lines Yeah, like those who held fans meet, then draw for them live on TV. All in permanent marker and most in single stroke. I was like wtf, draw just like it was nothing. so people really pro can cut off some steps like a bawse. |

QUOTE(seba @ Nov 24 2014, 09:00 PM) Thats what intriguing me, some people sketch so decently, they use slow and steady strokes and it looks so good, I think this is where all the practices make a difference, or talent. Probably.Just like Kim Junggi, if u watch his live drawing, mistakes are almost non existent, he just let his pen dance, I wonder how he can even do that? Did he just pre-estimate the sketch on his mind and map it on the canvas. It is done so effortlessly, the details too. Or they've been used to it, after drawing thousands of artwork in their lifetime, like most mangaka. All the top mangaka I saw can do it, like Tite Kubo and Masashi Kishimoto. They even used Kuricolor to color their drawing live. Guess I'll never be the same level as them. |

A draft for Give the Gift for Art competition. Not detailed and fully colored yet, but it gives the clear idea on the message that I'm trying to send.

QUOTE(seba @ Dec 2 2014, 08:44 AM) Now that I have grasped the foundation of my style, but it still lack the 'punch' that it need to make it more eye catching. It would be too long if I go find it on my own. The only thing I could do now is improving the background to make it bolder and complement the orb to the subject, but I have no idea how to do it. |

QUOTE(seba @ Dec 2 2014, 10:41 PM) If you ask me, I'm also a bit weak and inexperienced in concept, but theoretically, something eye-catching would be usage of vibrant colors, something bold and strong but not excessive in that sense. You can also try to bring on the subject more by giving it more dimension, put it in it's place, add more dynamics and style. Of course I was just subjectively speaking, I am leaving it all to your imagination. QUOTE(DragonReine @ Dec 3 2014, 08:17 AM) drpsyko Thanks for the replies. Nice concept! Maybe add a bit of contrasting teal/blue-green to the light shining from the figure's chest? Right now it's very monochrome in color scheme, nothing wrong with that but if it's a punch you're looking for some accents of contrast color won't hurt. It'll also make the red brighter, however. So it has something to do with unique color variation... Will try adding more hues and experimenting with a lot of colors. I guess two tones wouldn't be enough for this kind of artwork. |

QUOTE(seba @ Dec 5 2014, 10:20 AM) Depends on the theme u are going for, from what I see from the illustration, the most effective thing to do is you need to add more impact into it, i.e Explosion of colors, contrasts and whatnot, monotonous palette will make it very boring to see. Explosion of colors, contrast is still a bit hard for ma to fathom lol. All I can do is google around and make reference from it. Anyway, still a good advice and I really appreciate it. QUOTE(mclelun @ Dec 7 2014, 10:56 AM) more drawings :3 Love the calming, cute and happy family drawing. human drawing quality not consistent. :/ » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |
