QUOTE(yhtan @ Aug 15 2012, 03:55 PM) same dilemma imho, perhaps the gov couldnt bother much.. nestle products are not basic necessities.. you can live without it or switch to other brands such as tesco.. Do u think the government will let Nestle price whatever they like Nestle is putting their business on risk if they do so unless they are selling basic necessities such as oil or sugar.. i think i read somewhere wilmar is not performing well coz the china gov does not "encourage" them to sell the cooking oil at a higher price.. so although they are controlling 50% of the market in china but the profit margin is suppressed due to gov policy to reduce inflation.. correct me if i am wrong Added on August 15, 2012, 4:06 pm QUOTE(yok70 @ Aug 15 2012, 03:58 PM) what do you mean? can elaborate? QUOTE(jasontoh @ Aug 15 2012, 03:58 PM) I doubt the govt have control over what price that Nestle gonna sell their products. I might be wrong though. QUOTE(Icehart @ Aug 15 2012, 03:59 PM) If Nestle increase their selling price as they like on Milo, Milk and Maggi. Do u know how many people will affect by their move? they will create inflation in food price, do u think government will sit there do nothing?AFAIK these products already become out basic necessities in Malaysian life and i believe Nestle won't do such thing, their social responsibility is still top notch among all listed companies in Malaysia |

With govt slowly reducing the subsidy, it is just a matter of time before they increase. The reason to increase price very simple, raw material price up, so, have to increase the price to maintain profitable. But then again, it won't be like a double up of what I suggested, maybe a mere 10%. I realized while our soft drinks price increase substantially, Nestle products still maintain or slightly up.AFAIK these products already become out basic necessities in Malaysian life and i believe Nestle won't do such thing, their social responsibility is still top notch among all listed companies in Malaysia |

Do u know how many people will affect by their move? they will create inflation in food price, do u think government will sit there do nothing? hmm.. your statement makes sense but perhaps pricing the products as they like and passing the cost to the consumers are two different issues.. i am referring to the latter one.. AFAIK these products already become out basic necessities in Malaysian life and i believe Nestle won't do such thing, their social responsibility is still top notch among all listed companies in Malaysia if i remmber correctly, abdullah allowed the petrol price to shoot up from around rm2 to rm2.7.. that time i was styaing in pj and i can easily get a meal of fried noodles for less than rm4 bfore the increase.. but post increase i have to pay at least rm5.. and the price stays although the petrol price was reduced later on Added on August 15, 2012, 4:32 pm QUOTE(yok70 @ Aug 15 2012, 04:09 PM) means such as msports. hmm.. ookok.. thanksimproving profits and improving dividends, but share price now 52 weeks low. QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Aug 15 2012, 04:32 PM) Not a good sign when Govt keeps upgrading the Retirement Age up. Agree with you Sky gor. I personally think retirement age should be around 50 or below that, although I can live with 55. The problem is now everywhere Govt keeps upgrading the retirement age, and all this contribute to jobless to the younger generations. We should just stick with the official of 55 years old and then if the person does not have enough savings or want to work for another few years, then he/she can do so. But making it official at 60, I believe we are following the US/Euro zone and if their jobless rate can go so high, eventually we will catch up.Are we following the path of US, Euro Ang Mo |
