I thought venturing out of Malaysia is a good thing..
KUALA LUMPUR: Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd is subscribing to
30.96 million new 3D Oil Ltd shares and acquiring 50.1 per cent encumbered legal and beneficial right, title and interest in the exploration permit VIC/P57 in Gippsland Basin, Australia.
In a statement here today, the company said the subscription and purchase considerations and investment in the joint operating activities will cost A$29 million (RM95.5 million).
It will be funded via internal funds and proceeds raised from its private placement of convertible redeemable preference shares, it said.
Chairman Zainul Rahim Mohd Zain said it was an excellent opportunity for the company to develop as an exploration and production operator of a discovered oil field within a mature hydrocarbon province in Australia.
The Gippsland Basin is the most productive hydrocarbon province in Australia with initial resource estimates of over four billion barrels of oil and condensate reserves and 9.8 trillion cu ft of gas reserves.
It has produced about two-thirds of Australian's cumulative oil production and one-third of its gas production to date.
3D Oil is a Melbourne-based exploration and development company and has acquired 100 per cent interest in VIC/P57 in April 2004.
As at Aug 3, 2012, Hibiscus Petroleum had entered into six conditional subscription agreements that would raise RM74.5 million out of the total maximum of RM210 million.
Hibiscus Petroleum was suspended on Bursa Malaysia between 11.25 am and 5.00 pm today. It was last traded at RM1.88. -- BERNAMA
