Digistar approaching 52-wk low. Profit drops 50%. Last year profit up 300%. Up down up down with zero dividend. Sold around 0.48 on its last bull, lucky me. This kind of stock can only play short term. And now, more feel like losing confidence on this company. Management did not give good reasons for the drop and how to overcome since last bad qtr report.
However, its properties investment may give fruit if able to managed well, but competition is very tough in that forest. |

Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand have taken two measures that will withdraw a total of 450,000 tonnes of natural rubber (NR) from the market in order help the rubber price recover.
Read more: 3 nations withdraw 450,000 tonnes of rubber http://www.btimes.com.my/Current_News/BTIM.../#ixzz23n3HsgbR Glove, very tough business. Must increase revenue aggressively in order to neutralize this thing. CIMB viewed Topglov investing in Rubber plantation as negative, but I think it's a great move. Not familiar with the business, overcome it lah. What's the big deal. Big deal is rubber price movement here since it's so heavy on factoring the profit margin. |

QUOTE(GregPG01 @ Aug 17 2012, 04:50 PM) if not holding it now, no need buy now. what until the 5th year only start buying. joking only. i mean, now these glove makers all aggressively increasing productions. If able to find market to sell, revenue up big time, then rubber price up also can be neutralize. But when the plantation starts production, then the business can say become much more defensive. Now those IBs keep saying glove is defensive, that's bullshit. If defensive, how come 2 years ago glove stocks all got 50% price sales. QUOTE(yhtan @ Aug 17 2012, 05:16 PM) True. As long as the management knows what they are doing, should be doing fine. Unless, competition arise. However, recent 5 years may consider critical years for Malaysia's modernization. More and more people starts to spend more money on luxury goods(ie smartphones) and services(ie broadband). Therefore, to maintain this growth potential is not that easy anymore for the next 10 years, when our middle class growth slow down. Imagine, broadband in just last 2 years was 1-3Mbit around $120, now it's 10Mbit for almost the same price. I mean, in future, even though technology advance, they may still charge the same price. So the critical area is on growth speed of the middle class. Added on August 17, 2012, 5:25 pm QUOTE(KVReninem @ Aug 17 2012, 05:22 PM) You see, rubber plays a major role in daily usage. true, tapping rubber do needs good skill. That's why many small time owners prefer to tap themselves instead of the foreign workers because the trees may be damaged.RM35-40 just rubber tapping/day? lowering cost for skilled work will eventually create low valued industry/low economic return as worker- forever low economy, that is the current situation. Our local Malaysian want good job sitting in office then working in skilled industry. While in germany/australia; A skilled person are paid more than normal office worker. why? QUOTE(KVReninem @ Aug 17 2012, 05:48 PM) thats the problem with Malaysia domestic market; we create Degree, Master Degree`s people; but we couldnt create better value added in reality. Most management philosophy local is still far outdated. We (almost) never see experienced skillful technicians and engineers getting high pay. They need to become managers or directors in order to get higher pay, otherwise their salary raise will stop at their 30 year old and then stay at the same for the next 20 years. Last time when I still in IT line, we worked with Australia programmers. Their salary is higher than their superior (senior manager), and it's 3 times higher than ours. And we are the same age, with about the same quality of skills. |

QUOTE(kueyteowlou @ Aug 17 2012, 05:47 PM) Not a surprise. Many wise men that I know have this dream of retiring as a farmer, some even want to become farmer immediately but being refused by their wife or parents because their current job pays well. Choice of life, for most people, is highly depending on others instead of ourselves. No right or wrong here. |

QUOTE(katesamsung @ Aug 19 2012, 08:16 AM) Why revenue up 84%(139m vs 75m) and profit down 41%? i'm not sure what's the story behind, do you know any? Will wait for IBs papers or management's report to see what's happening. I actually wish price can drop gaw gaw....best below 1.30, then i will start accumulate more...its main attraction is landbanks, Sime buying it mainly for its landbanks in addition to brand name. |

QUOTE(Icehart @ Aug 20 2012, 02:21 AM) I think it has something to do with a one time gain on sale or disposal of an asset on last year comparative quarter, so that's why Thanks for the direction. I am going to collect some below 1.40 I just checked its historical EPS, i guess you are right. 1Q EPS last year had a big gap at 4.8sen while quarters before it were 0.3-1.15sen. Past 4 quarters EPS were 1.27, 1.4, 3.84, 2.74 sen. That's more than double of past EPS (exclusive of that sudden jump of 4.8sen quarter). I guess E&O has a more volatile income. Not as steady as some others such as Mahsing and Huayang since past 2 years. In this case, maybe my wet dream of its share price falling big time will be hard to achieve. Consider current valuation (PE or RNAV), it is consider one of the most expensive properties stock. So its valuation now still highly related to its huge Penang's landbanks....feels like a wet dream valuation situation. So Sime believes in this wet dream, while many don't. Who's right? We never know. Only time will tell. |

QUOTE(GregPG01 @ Aug 20 2012, 10:14 AM) EO land in PG should be referring to Tanjong Tokong reclaim area ?? I don't see a lot of empty lands left... The appeoved reclaim land needs a lot $$$. So bringing in Sime is cool cause this papa more deep pockets. Btw, straights quay is cool and successful Yes, the "sea land". Now in Penang, it's not about how expensive to buy lands, it's about where got land to buy. That's why even at 60% premium, Sime gotta buy even at rush, cannot wait because later other buyers come in can raise the premium even higher. Yes, Sime can help a lot with the $$$, and that also VERY CLEAR that Sime will sure one day "put one leg" into E&O's management. |

Ya, I read that too. However, business is business. We need to see the details of the deal before able to make judgement. QUOTE(davidcch07 @ Aug 22 2012, 05:20 PM) An alternative way to resolve Sime and SC's embarrassment is to make the share price closer to 2.30, then any court case or rumors will be self-die of becoming meaningless. Not a buy call, seriously. Just hold call for myself. Added on August 22, 2012, 5:31 pm QUOTE(davidcch07 @ Aug 22 2012, 05:20 PM) Cold-eye's power has definitely overtakes Alex and Dali recently.
