QUOTE(Boon3 @ Aug 22 2012, 06:27 PM) That was a rather crude remark. Leech investing is when someone buys as per someone's else research/writing. There's not much individual thinking involved except to assume the person they are following is correct. Works wonders at times because once there is enough followers, the buying power will be really strong. Danger? No matter how good the analysis/suggestion, one is one step behind because they are but a follower. When market is good, everyone is happy and the person doing the leading is god-like but the market is a monster. Ask Alex. Ask Dali. When the market turns into a monster, would the leecher knows what's the right move? My investing? Me a trader lah and certainly not a ichap value investor. Nothing against investing really, it's just that I am a no good investor. For the 3 of them, I look at Alex as the most respectable one. His writing "timing" is neutral. On the other hand, Dali and Coldeyes timing usually quite obvious that to benefits themselves the most although their analysis are also quite benefiting readers as knowledge of investment. You means not fancy on their writings, but I find their writings quite good actually. Follow or not is not important, learn something from them is important. My glass is still quite empty, I'm just a newbie in stock market. |

QUOTE(GregPG01 @ Aug 22 2012, 10:51 PM) props in PENANG already too expensive lio la . Life is tough, this is reality. Imagine our great-grandfather/mother, when they first arrived Malaysia, how hard for them to just survive? Nowadays, many youth and children are so spoiled. They thought just open hands, money can fall down to their hands (from parents). They complains on not satisfy on luxury desires like that's their parents owed them. For any young family to buy a house for themselves, don't you think a minimum combination salary of at least more than RM10k monthly is required? For a family at this level of salary, I think they are able to buy a house at any area in Malaysia without any problem. Added on August 23, 2012, 12:01 amPublic Investment Research maintains Outperform on E&O KUALA LUMPUR: Public Investment Research is maintaining its Outperform recommendation on Eastern & Oriental (E&O) and target price of RM2.20. It said on Wednesday that price target of RM2.20 was a 30% discount to fully diluted RM3.10 RNAV. “Potential catalyst include final approval for STP2 (760 acres, GDV RM12bil to RM13bil), JVs with Sime Darby (37,000 acres landbank with an estimated RM100bil. GDV) and realising its KPT of targeting RM250mil-RM300mil in FY12/13,” it said. Public Investment Research said year-to-date, the group has achieved 26% of its earlier FY13 net profit estimate, primarily driven by the Quayside and Andaman condominiums in Penang and the St Mary Residences in Kuala Lumpur. “Margins remained steady at c. 25% EBIT, despite the recent cost pressures. Separately, we tweaked our earnings estimates to reflect changes in our profit recognition assumptions and revised our FY13-15F estimates upwards by +10.7% and +6.1% respectively. We expect E&O to meet its bi-annual profit target of RM250mil-RM300mil,” it said. This post has been edited by yok70: Aug 23 2012, 12:01 AM |

QUOTE(GregPG01 @ Aug 23 2012, 12:01 AM) even 10k is tough for PEN island . 1/2 of net income goes to mortgage. that is not house lio . that become like jail and work for bank . 800k house? Is that an ordinary house or a luxury house? In KL, we can always find ordinary house for less than 400k. Just put it at 400k, monthly payment is just half of the 4k in your table, which is 2k. I would say that's a very comfortable life already, for income 10k debt only 2k. Unless they also want to buy their first car as Honda Civic or so....and also update their phone to upcoming iphone 5, and then change a new Mac Book Air and tablet.....and the list goes on.... of course you can say dont buy landed la . 自足常樂啊! QUOTE(yhtan @ Aug 23 2012, 09:22 AM) A double story landed terrace house in penang island (sub-sale) can be easily cost more than RM700k, i'm not sure about price in island You see, this is the difference between my generation (uncle) and yours (youngster). For my generation, buying double storey house is for financial income above average people, those positioned as Manager class or senior staffs. This category only consist maybe 10-20% in a company, I'd say they are the "high income" group. On the other hand, I don't know about Penang. But in KL, I can easily find a 400k double storey house. Just don't talk about luxury quality and best location loh, unless rich people. This post has been edited by yok70: Aug 23 2012, 09:37 AM |

QUOTE(simplesmile @ Aug 25 2012, 09:49 AM) I do not understand this. Current price is RM2.59. And the CEO wants to offer between RM1.80 to RM2.00? Who will sell to them at a lower price? I still remember Segi case. Price at 2.00 and they wanted to buy at 1.70. Then shareholders rejected and now no more GO. Price rebounds back to above 2.00.I don't know what about this Bonia case. Can it happen like Segi? Need to wait for more details out. Hopefully OSK will write something on Monday to clarify what's going on. One thing for sure, every single one of minority shareholders is going to curse them every night before sleeping from now on. I'll do that for sure. Very angry with such MONEY-SUCKER big shareholders. What PE is that at 1.80?? Even now at 2.59, trailing PE only 13x. Its peer? Padini is at 20x! OSK's TP? 3.15! I'm very sure this is another MONEY-SUCKER exercise of sucking in great growth story ahead with minimum price. How can these people sleep at night? I don't understand. One thing for sure, I'll sell all my Bonia as soon as I got the chance and will NEVER touch it again! The management said still plan to keep it public listed? Fxxx you lah! You list go ahead, and nobody want to touch it anymore! Blood sucker! Now I just worry it will open at 1.80 on Monday(lower limit is 1.71)! This is a case where no matter how well a company looks (cash rich, good dividend, visible profit growth story ahead), it's pointless, if the management or major shareholders look at the minority shareholders like a bunch of ants that can easily killed without any caring at all. Now I see share market is more and more like a casino. You play a bet. If got unlucky, you loss. It's about luck, not analysis, sometimes. Bonia represents 3% of my total portfolio. Quite hurting. Sigh! Now I'm at profit of 17%, by Monday it could turn into a loss of 18% instead! This post has been edited by yok70: Aug 26 2012, 03:55 AM |

QUOTE(john123x @ Aug 27 2012, 05:15 PM) Insider Asia Model Portfolio 496 The article dated 27th August, means today. And they said they sold last Friday. I mean, I can't believe entirely what they said. If the article was out before last Friday, then ok, I believe. Insider asia sells bonia stakes last friday!!!!! and escapes todays plung. I got a feeling that they have insider news.....therefore able to exit fast Not to say bad about this model, just not agree with their timing of posting the article. So the "numbers" in that model is a bit unreliable. But that's not so important for me. In fact, I must thank them for posting this model. It's very good for us to experience how a "virtual fund manager" may do their daily job. Learn a lot from it, and still learning. QUOTE(jasontoh @ Aug 31 2012, 04:37 PM) Agree with you market seems like peak, or at least earnings doesn't growing that much, but too worry to miss out UltraBull, so, I will on hold my purchase, but will keep holding on to what I have now. Same feelings with you and Pana. Market is kind of peak, but the QE around the world(US and China mainly) if realize may create another super bull (be it short term or mid term).... I start cutting down holdings on those with not so pretty qtr report or political stocks. But continue to hold others with strong profit. I'm expecting to hold 30-35% cash when waiting for GE effect on market correction. This post has been edited by yok70: Aug 31 2012, 05:08 PM |
