Hello friends,

Just a few questions to ask teh owner here. Idont have a preve but my father in law just bought a cvt preve(the normal one)

When i test drive hs car, whenever i accelerate from low rpm, there is this bugging sound like gggrrrrr (something vibrating) n after going past 2000rpm, its gone. I tried checking the dashboard but it seems fine, pop the hood n ask my wife to rev the engine, suspecting the airfilter box became loose, no sound came up, the engine bay didnt produce the sound, i dont know if i missed the sound. My father in law sent the car for 1k service in melaka, the replied came n the scsaid the sound is the characteristic of the iafm. Sure or not? I dont think iafm make such an awful sound, i mever been inn iafm car buti do believe iafm operation is smooth n silent, the sound that has bugging me is different, like plastic vibrating.
Question:
A. Is this normal for iafm?
B. anyone share the same sound?
C. How can we rectify it?

Ater tasting (yeah, i mean tasting) the car at bends on high speed, corners and all n comparing to my last waja on eibach n ps3, all i can say this car is superb, attacking corners at 120km/h without any sweat n this is still in stock standard from!!. f***ing awesome.

I just wish proton could up the ante by using more better materials for the plastic part, the touch n feel is not there yet, maybe its not cfe but overall this is an awesome car.

I wonder how the cfe taste like, once i was overtook by a cfe from a road nearing a corner, the way the car pulls out from the line n overtook me is fassst, he need to be fast because of the corner is nearing but he did it anyway n he took the corner without braking n man he is fast. That high degree of confidence shows that the driver n car have mutual understanding.hehe.

Appreciate ur reply n my questions above, its been bugging me becoz my father in law dont care much

Thanks

hi there, dunno whether this will help. Try to check the rear mirror whether the vibration is coming from there coz there are some cases, where original thought of sound is coming from the centre of the dash, but after checking, nothing loose, but the rear view mirror is the source. When driving, try to hold the rear view mirror with hand, check whether the sound still there or not. If not, retight@securely refit the rear view mirror coz its just loose a bit, causing the vibration sound like metal clanking, but only happened at lower rpm(coz low gear, higher vibration).

But this is not 100% the solution coz sometimes, others also can cause the probs.

Added on September 1, 2012, 12:38 pmall previan..just wanna ask u something..can u rate the tyre level for standard preve tyre which is GT Radial Champiro Bax 2..i feel high probability to aquaplane in wet road..for comfort so far ok not so loud.

If compare to Yokohama S or Falken ZE ZEIX 912 which is better..

so far quite hard in my place to find 205/55/16 tyre..
oni got Falken ZE 522, Conti CC5

Actually i wanted the FALKEN AZENIS PT722 tyre...for my second tyre after standard tyre come to end life.
*
champiro bax 2 is not really that bad during the wet.

If u really want to get better tyre on wet condition, dont look at type@tyre brand, just look up at traction rated at the tyre.

If traction rated AA, then its best for wet condition, no matter which brand. Personal favourite ps3, eagle f1 n adrenalin re 002. But still many rated AA. Hope this help.

About loudness, personally,i think silverstone kruizer ns 500@700 is quiter than champiro bax 2 but champiro offered better traction. Bye.

My dad is seriously into buying one (the Premium one or whatever). I'm in full support of him buying it, as it has the right stuff for the right price. Any problems associated with the car though? Just to get a heads up, just so it won't catch us by surprise.

ss 13 pj SC willing to spray.? ok going to ask for this next round tongue.gif i know they got a paint oven there...

yes, they're willing to spray if the customer complains. Just make sure they don't forget it like what happened to me.

Service advisor told me to leave the car in the morning and pick it up in the evening.

Oh and 1 more question. It's regarding an auto gearbox. For manuals in order to save on fuel, I usually switch to neutral and let the car coast before braking. I hear some say that switching to Neutral from time to time will damage an automatic gearbox. I am thinking of applying my methods to an auto car, but afraid that the claim might be true. I'm even more unsure for the CVT gearbox. Will shifting to Neutral and coast be a bad thing for the gearbox?

Can never go wrong with michelin ps3. Wet or dry. Grip is superb. Tyre never squeal when pushed hard (maybe i didnt push hard enough). These gt radial squeals alot.

Fyi if tyre squeals, sounds cool but actually the tyre has lost grip and that is never good.

owah..thnks bro..never tried PS3..maybe will be consider it too

yes both is AA traction rated. but actually i am very interesting with FALKEN AZENIS PT722 which is rated 440AA and 600AA for traction, so can u enlighten me about 440AA and 600AA traction rated?

I don't think you need to do that. From the Instant Fuel Consumption meter, I notice when going downhill and not pressing the accelerator, it sometimes even show 0 liter consumption. So I presume the ECU is smart enough to cut off petrol to engine similar to neutral in Manual Transmission.

Tyres are the main thing that connects your car to the road. Never skimp on tyre, buying cheap ones might cost your life.

Disappointed with service center during my first 1000km service. Sent my car in and gave them a list of things to do, including rusty exhaust holder, with 2 pictures of it. In the invoice, said done to respray back.

When I inspected the car, nothing was done  mad.gif
Then when I questioned the technician, he said next time come back and do...grrr!

i too am pretty disappointed with my 1000km service. next time, i would send it back to an 3S SC as opposed to my SA sending my car to a 3rd party authorised Proton one.

they didn't do a re-tune when i request them to do so; the mechanic only gave the excuse the car only picks up at 3k rpm..... right.....

also, i have a question for every one, for the 1000km service, what motor oil did they use? the mechanic told me, my CFE car needs to use 5W 40 Shell Fully Synthetic motor. i didn't argue with him, but when i looked in my user guide, i didn't specify using such an expensive motor oil.....

Few cars NEED to use such an expensive oil, especially when the engine is not specifically designed to use one and it is new. You can use it for its benefits, but there's really no need to.
