Hello friends,

Just a few questions to ask teh owner here. Idont have a preve but my father in law just bought a cvt preve(the normal one)

When i test drive hs car, whenever i accelerate from low rpm, there is this bugging sound like gggrrrrr (something vibrating) n after going past 2000rpm, its gone. I tried checking the dashboard but it seems fine, pop the hood n ask my wife to rev the engine, suspecting the airfilter box became loose, no sound came up, the engine bay didnt produce the sound, i dont know if i missed the sound. My father in law sent the car for 1k service in melaka, the replied came n the scsaid the sound is the characteristic of the iafm. Sure or not? I dont think iafm make such an awful sound, i mever been inn iafm car buti do believe iafm operation is smooth n silent, the sound that has bugging me is different, like plastic vibrating.

Question:
A. Is this normal for iafm?
B. anyone share the same sound?
C. How can we rectify it?

Ater tasting (yeah, i mean tasting) the car at bends on high speed, corners and all n comparing to my last waja on eibach n ps3, all i can say this car is superb, attacking corners at 120km/h without any sweat n this is still in stock standard from!!. f***ing awesome.

I just wish proton could up the ante by using more better materials for the plastic part, the touch n feel is not there yet, maybe its not cfe but overall this is an awesome car.

I wonder how the cfe taste like, once i was overtook by a cfe from a road nearing a corner, the way the car pulls out from the line n overtook me is fassst, he need to be fast because of the corner is nearing but he did it anyway n he took the corner without braking n man he is fast. That high degree of confidence shows that the driver n car have mutual understanding.hehe.

Appreciate ur reply n my questions above, its been bugging me becoz my father in law dont care much

Thanks

hi there, dunno whether this will help. Try to check the rear mirror whether the vibration is coming from there coz there are some cases, where original thought of sound is coming from the centre of the dash, but after checking, nothing loose, but the rear view mirror is the source. When driving, try to hold the rear view mirror with hand, check whether the sound still there or not. If not, retight@securely refit the rear view mirror coz its just loose a bit, causing the vibration sound like metal clanking, but only happened at lower rpm(coz low gear, higher vibration).

But this is not 100% the solution coz sometimes, others also can cause the probs.

Abg mat, how abot the iafm operation, does it produce any sound that can protrude into the cabin?

the only thing i know that iafm only functioning when rpm reached 4800rpm where it change to short runner. Before that, long runner all the way. The only thing i remember it has sound like breathing sound, but its not vibrating. At low rpm, there is nothing happened in iafm unit coz it remained static in long runner mode.

Another thing, check under ur steering wheel dash whether the obd cable is securely fit in its place. If unfit properly sometimes can cause vibration.
