Buy car is for convenient purpose to move around. Do investment is for the wealth generation. I rather drive a lousy car but my bank acc and pocket full of dough. I've seen ppl driving bmw but stay in flats and eat bread  for lunch....whats the point.

Different ppl have different priority and preference. Why judge them? Its their money after all.

p.s. Don't shoot me, I drive lousy car laugh.gif

to TS, this is just my advise. you may think or forget it

keep the car and use it as your main transport from point a to b. better make saving for you to buy house, because house once you invest it, you can sell higher. unlike car, you invest, then you sell lower. where got car you buy then sell higher. or if you already got house & car, go for investment like public mutual, cimb investment etc. you will get profit and save it as for your future wheng getting older and older. once you retired, car wont help you much when sell it, but your saving can treat your retirement longer with you sack full of invested + profit money

dont just think now. think for future too

Ok. Have to agree different ppl different perspective. But the point you made on this I have to disagree "Its their money after all". Coz if you buy a car you can't afford, its not only your money at stake but your future generation will be in debt with you brows.gif

OK here is reality check...

Business man change car because they need to show people that they have the $$$ to sustain and do bigger business

Rich kid change car cause they can spend daddy money and they are spoiled anyways smile.gif also get laid easier too smile.gif

Sales Man buy car cause to show people they are Super salesman...

MLM man buy car cause their UPLINE told them too smile.gif also easier to get recruit...

Poor people buy car cause eitheir their car breakdown or they change to poorer smaller car (no offence)

I change car cause my old car giving me trouble...

You thinking change car cause being poison by a friend... think about it... worth it??

if change car will get you
1. Find rich girl to get marry (better than investment) then go ahead...
2. Your old car is in a mess... then change it!!!
3. You listed to your friend... yeah good luck

Personally I don't think there's a need for u to change your current Vios dugong for a more expensive ride just to prove it to your customers/clients that u are doing perfectly well in sales.

Unless u are dealing with clients which gives u at least RM800K to RM2 Mil sales per annum. Your old friend's style is most likely applies to those who are in the financial consulting or insurance related industry.

I'm an IT graduate moons years ago & made my earnings from sales after I felt that sales line tends to provide me with unlimited income. I was driving a souped up Wira-lution about 9 years ago when I was joined the corporate world but managed to secure good deals from my clients that time. Now I'm a section head manager for a MNC which I'll be tagging along with my sales managers to meet some potential big corporate clients, most of them doesn't bother by what kind of ride u are driving.

What they are looking for is a good deal which give win, win situation to both parties as well pricing structure only. FYI, I'm currently only driving an old SXV10R Camry & my clients are either being chauffeur in this Bentley, Audi A8, Jaguar or some of them drive on their own which their rides includes Gallardo, Murcielago, F430 Scuderia, 438 Italia & loads more of those exotic rides which takes pages for me to list it out here.

Initially I've the same thinking like u few years ago which made me bought a 2009 limited edition VW Golf GTi Caractere MK5 just to "show" my clients how "high" I was in the corporate ladder but I was wrong. It was an impulsive purchase but it was also one of my dream cars too, so I'm enjoying the ride still but uses my old junk Camry as daily workhorse. I'm still able to strike a big deal with various corporate clientele up to date. It's just how u present yourself to them during the presentation or meet up. Simple! Have a lots of confidence & listen more on their requirements then only come out with action plans to execute the deal.

Good luck & keep your dugong as it's still a Toyota! Bullet-proof ride if u asked me!
