Nice drive, comfortable, nice interior although there are some hard plastics. Aside from some annoying rattling from time to time, otherwise a good car.

What it does not have compared to some of its rivals (Japanese/Europeans)

- Keyless Entry and Smart Start System (Key push, not key turn)
- Tire pressure monitoring system
- Full Electric seats (semi-electric)
- Electric folding windows (it's manual)
- Solar and Security film
- Panoramic Roof

Go test drive to get a good feel of the car

Want to ask is the VW Polo Sedan 1.6 recommended? for its price or 99k+

I tot most of the buyers will go for the light n sound package which comes up to RM156k.. 
anyway.. although i dun own either 1, but head says jetta, heart says golf..
will decide again when i change car and by the time see which one (head and heart) is stronger.. 

For me golf looks more sporty n jetta looks more like a family car.

Anyway, i'm planning to do piping n valve on my golf gti after raya to make the car sounds more sporty. This will definitely void the warranty is it? And will it by any chance have any other effects on my car other than changing the sound?

For me no cos it is pure joy to drive. But i have not tested jetta.

I understand it will be the dilemma for it to be a family cos the boot space will be pain in the ass.

Jetta is abit of a dilemma, bcos of its looks which is pretty subjective.. hav to say certain angle looks nice, certain angle looks weird.. but the boot space is really impressive..

A fren who owns a golf started commenting on the boot space.. bcos Golf is the main car for his family, thus he is starting to feel the lack of space.. cant even put in his golfclub unless fold down the rear seats..

Another fren just got "expecting" and forgo her idea of getting the Golf and got a Passat instead..

IMHO, hatch mostly serve as 2nd car (for me la) as it is better to hav a sedan in a family...
(Unless certain hatch has impressive boot space like Pug 308 which has > 400 liter of boot space)

How does VW's year end promo works. For example last year VW gave quite a good discount for certain models e.g. RM20K for the Passat. Care to explain guys? Thanks.

I dunno if I'm the best person to ask in regards to servicing a VW as I haven't done my first service yet. But so far, there's no hitches with our other Typ 6R Polo TSI which my family owns for the past year or so. Then again that car has less than 15k mileage on it even after 1 year+ of ownership so again, not your typical VW owner.

FC can range from very good to bad depending on how ridiculously you try to drive the car. LOL! Heavy footers and torque lovers will no doubt kill the FC of these cars quite easily.

So far I'm happy with my car and to be frank, when I drove my wife's new Civic for the past 2 days, the immediate thought was.... damn this car is slow. At the same time, the suspension also feels softer and more comfortable over bumps compared to continentals. But at the end of the day though, it is very highly unlikely I will ever buy another Japu or Kimchi car ever again. Once you tasted the power and torque of turbocharged cars, there's no going back 

So if you do buy your wife a Passat or Golf etc, my advise is don't drive them too much or you might not want to go back to your K5 again. The driving pleasure is just miles and miles ahead of the Jap/Kor cars

Actually, we had a bit of a loan issue with our new FB Civic and the car was delayed for well over a month because of it. The reason was so stupid that I seriously contemplated switching over to the new Beetle instead. Had it been delayed for another week or 2, I would have just cancelled and bought the new Beetle instead.

1. It's the new beetle, it looks chic and stylish. Even guy driving it won't look funny this time round.
2. It's turbocharged, the 1.2 TSI will be good enough for daily commuting purposes
3. My family and baby will use the Passat for shopping or outstation, so the Beetle will be the fun car a quick weekend get away.

Anyway, wife decided not to change and the new Civic did arrive just before Merdeka. But actually, our case is exactly the same. So if I were you, the golf or beetle would be good choices but ultimately, it's up to your wife. Right now, we have 2 sedans and the feeling is somewhat... meh! The only good thing about it is I can save on mileage for the Passat and drive the Civic every now and then.

Really? That means I have a year plus left to service? I doubt that man. I don't think so

Stage 0.5 : Piggyback
Stage 1: ECU remap
Stage 1+ : ECU remap + hardware changes (CAI intake, catback exhaust, intercooler) - can change more hardware but if downpipe not changed, its not Stage 2 yet.
Stage 2: Stage 2 ECU remap + downpipe
Stage 2+: Usually HPFP change
Stage 3: Stage 3 ECU remap, turbo change, injectors change, fuel pump change, uprated internal parts (forged pistons and crankshaft?)

U will say "only 28nm?" but trust its not the number. Its how accesible the torque is compared to before

For the crazy hp gain(stage 1 n 2 give crazy torque) u need stage 3.
