QUOTE(Mavik @ Oct 26 2012, 03:03 AM) Its a pocket rocket versus a family sedan. Both to suit different markets. Initial pricing (PGTI was less than RM140k) was spot on IMHO but thanks to the new tax revision, VW go screwed over here in Malaysia. tenkiu ah jip kor personally i think now the polo gti price are over priced. rather go for Golf just a 1 sec+ diff 0-100. only the engine spec been tuned. no where else was upgraded. 160k+ I could find lots of car |

QUOTE(K5WHITE @ Oct 26 2012, 04:23 AM) yeah, i knew of the price hike. Thats my point, they increase the price to almost same as their own d-segment car. Well, heck, they can even comapre with their own c-segment(jetta) since they use the same engine to have a closer look. I knew abt the passat cc increase last time ard, but for this polo gti, its kinda irrelevant. very true. not to bash or comment new owner of polo gti. but 160k+. now matter how good the performance or handling. at the end still a subcompact hatch car unless was Audi A1 For me, performance is good but I still prefer a practical car since malaysia average income not par with oversea. |

QUOTE(Mavik @ Oct 26 2012, 11:18 AM) The Jetta is a cut down version, extremely low specs. The Polo GTI has a lot of extra items which is definitely worth it when it was priced at RM136k. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if a hatch back price is the same as the D-segment, they cater for different markets entirely. |

QUOTE(Boy96 @ Oct 27 2012, 11:02 AM) hmm. But my mom do prioritize Resale Value.. so passat has a plus point here. even BMW got rattles. depend your lemon lor. Comparing the K5 and Passat Sport. Not the normal ones.. The sport do have auto fold side mirror (this one should be standard in all cars now). We use the car mainly for 100% city drive.. maybe go outstation 3-4times a year.. Most importantly, want a car that has a rattle free cabin, no squeak squeak noise. etc etc... resale value passat should be better than K5 nowaday but not CBU unit. K5 i test drive also quite comfort. can say car above 100k nowaday less rattle or squeky sound. Passat I do felt knocking sound from back bonnet. on bumpy road. not sure passat sport |

QUOTE(zenix @ Oct 29 2012, 04:49 AM) jetta wif gti engine? would be like m3 version of a 3 series yeap k5 wanna be more bling while passat are more realistic usefulness. though i think the jetta would be able to give k5 buyers a good headache too. The cabin of the GLI features sport bucket seats with red stitching and a sport flat-bottom steering wheel with red stitching, the GLI logo and aluminum accents. The overall interior styling consistently follows the sporty exterior lines of the car and includes a soft-touch dashboard and other premium interior trimming that were stripped out of lesser Jetta models for cost reasons. The GLI is available in cloth or V-Tex Leatherette and also features alloy pedals, shifter, dash and door trim. To increase versatility, the rear bench seatback is split 60/40 and folds. While lesser Jettas make do with a simple twist-beam rear axle for the latest generation (previously, all Jettas had a fully independent suspension), the GLI benefits a four-link independent rear suspension with an upgraded anti-roll bar. This setup helps the GLI hug the corners like a GTI with a trunk and avoid the somewhat imprecise handling of normal Jettas. The GLI also accelerates like a GTI thanks to a powertrain taken directly from Volkswagen's sporty hatchback. Underhood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 200 horsepower and 207 lb-ft. of torque that mates to either a satisfying six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG twin-clutch automatic transmission. The DSG comes with steering wheel-mounted paddles for sequential-style shifting and rev-matched downshifts, and for the latest model year the transmission gains launch-control for speedy acceleration runs. Equipped with the DSG, the GLI is rated at 24 mpg in the city and 33 on the highway, while opting for the row-your-own option will mean trading one city mpg for an extra one on the open freeway. If jetta equip more accessory alike Passat. It will have better sales. |

QUOTE(zenix @ Oct 29 2012, 06:20 AM) ada launch control also? if got spec like that and cheaper than golf gti it would be a steal. i didn't buy golf gti purely because lack of big boot and was looking at mercs/beemers but those over priced if you compare with price tag and performance. Sadly not much selection for new car below 200k. Ford Focus ST - thats is Extreme than GTi launch control N/A till audi R8 only got |

QUOTE(zenix @ Oct 29 2012, 06:34 AM) my requirements quite fussy. Ford Mondeoif i am going to spend 200k for the car it has to be able to do everything. weekend rempit machine, weekday workhorse, have enough prestige for my position but not something over my MD, automatic (paddle shifters good plus point), not a problematic car which needs to always goto the workshop, must have a boot, high hp for highway cruising, high torque for in-city driving, not a petrol drinker, etc. 200k below = Checked powerful car = checked paddle shift = Checked no problematic = checked big boot = checked Good FC = checked ! there you go |
