Hi Guys! I have an empty plot of land (about 400 sq feet) in front of my house and thought of doing a nice easy maintenance garden. I have no clue on gardening, and was wondering if you guys have any ideas to share...

what sort of plants to plant.. I have a huge tree that shades the place too, so please suggest me some easy beautiful plants!

Appreciate your feedbacks! biggrin.gif

I just purchased this plant and would like to get some advise:
Attached Image

1. There are some centipede inside the soil, what's the best way to get rid of them?

2. Is the current setup ok? do I need to remove the black plastic and put the soil directly into the orange vase?

Guys,

I do simple gardening in balcony condo.
Dunno why i plant onion, garlic, cili... at first it shoots out healthy.
Then suppose 2 weeks can harvest such as spring onion. The below pic i have planted since December, it shows no sign of growing and drying.

Even the chili also start to show dying.

Looking at the pictures, the soil looks to be compacted, probably due to heavy watering. Try loosening the soil with a fork. Best to water with a fine rose watering can. if using water hose, set a very fine spray but longer duration. Try to let top part dry out between waterings.
For onion, garlics, break some egg shells finely and scatter on the top to repel snails. Ground coffee also can. The snails can be small and undetectable at first.

How much sunlight are they exposed to? Evening or morning sun?

I'm no expert but just some points for consideration...

I water it everyday. Not over flood it but keep the soil moist. <--correct?
No snail detected, i live at 20th floor. I got put egg shell for calcium.
Sunlight expose in the morning.

Maybe due to too much sunlight, my mom advised me to cover it little bit.
The onion no need to peel the skin right? There is leaf shoot out then just plant it that simple?
The soil i mix with rotten food.

Hi guys,

Need some help with my plants over here, you can see the before and after...seems to be dying, turning yellow. Is there anything that i can do to get it back to the way it used to be? We keep it in the washroom and water it from time to time. It has been two years, what are we missing? Can anyone shed some light and advise?

The plant has sentimental values to me sad.gif

Aloe vera?

http://www.aloebarn.com/watering-your-aloe-vera-plants

Yellow can be seen in two common areas. Tips or edges start getting yellow and then dark spots on the yellow, this is usually a sunburn issue but if the entire plant is turning a yellow shade then it could be lacking sun and not e producing enough chlorophyll. Just pay attention to the change you make and watch your plant closely over the next two weeks. Aloe Vera plants are hardy plants and can survive in extreme conditions, but with proper care they will thrive.

Hi guys,

Anyone of you here doing DIY composing ?
Since local gov is encouraging separate trash, i thought of why not self compose some of waste food such as fruits skins, seeds, vege waste & dry leaves and grass from my garden.
