I have to correct your statement. It's not necessary to unlock bootloader for root. I root my phone with lock bootloader.

You can find more information from Root XPS without unlock bootloader
CODE
To enter CWM recovery you have to tap on sony logo at start few times.

Sorry for the wrong information earlier, it's Sony logo, not XPERIA.
You can relock the bootloader. But it still consider void warranty.

Haha. Just curious whats the performance when OC, is it really noticeable or not. Not really sure, do any of you play Blood and Glory on your XPS? Because I play a few mins then starts to lagg a bit then maybe another few more mins, starts to become quite unresponsive, giving me lesser slashes too.

Just a bit off topic, I went to Digi Center today with a friend, tried their Nexus with JB, smooth like a baby's bottom (not that I ever touch one or a pedo, just an experession smile.gif). Hope that JB for our XPS or newer ICS update will be that smooth

First it will start out warm then will slowly raise somemore then phone starts to lagg even more. So far you encounter any similar occurance like me ?

Anyway lets just say if I want to root and flash my XPS.

the steps is
1. Unlock Bootloader
2.Root
3. Install CWM
4. Flash custom ROm
5. Flash Kernel

Are the steps correct or ?

Thanks

previously due to software prob, one software running backgriound without my notice. d handset alws in warm status and battery drained very fast. but later i found out a software that cause such prob and after i uninstalled, the phone very very less in warm condtion. at that time, sometimes, d phone feel warm and started abit to lag.

if u jus wanna root, u can do it without unlock ur bootloader. unless u plan to root and flash cwm and flash with new kernel. this is the understanding for recently read d xda forum... but i jus flashed to custom stock rom. without those bloatware and jhunk apps. feel nicer and better.

Heating problems will always be there for the phones. Lol. XPS, S3 all the same. Especially games that will "strain" your phones. Lol. Games like Need For Speed and Fifa. Drains the battery life as well.

Long time didn't drop in here. How's everyone?

Hmmm. I plan to unlock bootloader and flash custom ROM and kernel. But I worry I will make mistakes. Then brick. Maybe will look for someone offer the service

Erm. Based on my own experience, may differ from others. The current ICS is smoother. Then in ICS, free RAM seems to be lesser than GB. For me, I noticed the contacts load a bit slow. Sometimes when I open a photo or read sms. The screen is just black or no message appear. I dont know is it a bug or what. But sometimes when I unlock my phone. It goes to camera instead. Other than that, its ok.

Also, in GB, after you restart your phone. Your apps seems to be uninstalled or missing. Need to restart again. For ICS, didnt encounter this.
