Oic... maybe ur point is if PR takes over the government suddenly our food will become world class, and the cockroach food u mentioned earlier will become "exotic comfort food".

Its the ingredients really. Its the sub par ingredients used in order to maximize profits, Malaysian delicacies are a hit with my foreign colleagues and friends who actually have use nasi lemak and hokkien mee as exotic dishes for special days.

Its definitely not overrated as it does spice up their menus with local recipe specialty.

Our food is totally adulterated just because restaurant owner wants to capture the Malay market. Real food needs stock (from pork bones) and alcohol (esp french food) to taste good. Even our ice cream and chocalates taste bad because it is halal. Give me back the 70's when Food is really good without that halal thingy. Our Malay friends have become more Arab than the Arab itself. even our mineral water is halal, I have friends from MiddleEast (Arabs) who laugh at us. They say water is water, how can u halalnised water. just like the air you breathe. Later we are gonna have halal air which comes in bottled form

Agree with TS. After being in and out of the country I find myself having diffculty looking for good food back home. Even the so called super duper good food that everyone is raving about tasted ok and average. If tourists really think it is good instead of singing praises out of politeness, the demand from tourists would have caused a mushrooming of such restaurants overseas such as thai restaurants.

totally...the food in the past is much better. even the hawkers respect ingredient quality and put care into their craft. now just hire bangla while they shake leg and open branches maybe. just the day b4 i saw another branch of famous kampar duck noodle. what the hell is doing here in KL???

western food here in particular is shit level.
