recently i went to bkk too. taking malindo, 3 days after their first flight to bkk from kl
flight delay departure for 30mins++, then when arriving bkk, due to traffic the plane fly fly fly above bangkok, fly sini fly sana, turn left turn right macam give us free tour of bkk city
my question is, usually if they waiting to land due to airport traffic, they will be flying at a much higher attitude right? ini kali dia fly quite low so we can see the city clearly....

Most likely Malindo missed it's planned schedule due to initial delays thus have to circle in the sky waiting for next slot. As for flying low, I can only assume there's several other planes above therefore must keep a safe distance.

Those going Bangkok please follow Bangkok Post closely. It seems protester have blocked certain toll near Don Mueang airport resulting to tourist lugging their luggage through highway in order to reach their flight. http://thainews.prd.go.th/centerweb/newsen...CO5705110010002Those facing road block were warn not to remove cone or barrier. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/D...t-30233370.htmlThis post has been edited by Xccess: May 12 2014, 12:00 PM

QUOTE(Xccess @ May 10 2014, 08:01 PM) No one can can't foresee what will happen tomorrow let alone predict the situation in October, that's 5 months away, anything can happen. Pavilion Pratunam seems not bad, outside looks nice and new. I only happened to passed by while walking the night market there. You may face difficulty finding it as it was located in a small alley, better print a map for taxi driver. Yup agree, hopefully it will be peaceful enough by then. Thanks for your advise!

I've travelled to numerous countries including east Africa, Thailand is still my all time favorite destination when comes to shopping, food, clubbing, beaches and relaxation/massage. What makes it so attractive is the currency conversion rates and friendly locals. Just keep yourself updates via news or this forum. I will plan another trip soon after the toll blockage drama is over.

I no longer visit Phuket as it has turned into a zoo, flooded with rowdy Russians, drunkards, prostitutes.....the place has lose it's charm. Hopefully Bangkok can retain its beauty forever. Thanks for the heads up. Protest usually congregate at certain location, shopping and business as usual for places not affected as these people still need to make a living. Your flight back is from Don Meuang airport? Is there any block at the toll by red shirt as reported?

The road effected is only if you're going into the city from airport but those taxi driver knows how to avoid those jammed road. From city to airport traffic was a breeze takes only 15 mins to reach from my hotel holiday inn express.

Getting Started

|
Just back from Bangkok on Monday. Arrived at Bangkok Don Mueang Airport on Friday 1:30pm. Due to road closure towards city, it took us around 3 hours to get into our hotel near Pratunam.
Parties continues, shopping till you drop. Didn't really notices protest except a big TV screen nearby Platinum Mall.
